Virgin repeater

Just called to close my virgin credit card and the offered to give me aother 6 months intrest free capped at £35 fee.
Didn't have cc card details with me from which to transfer the balance so they've done it to my current account (said it had to be done while I was on the phone - offer wouldn't extend beyond that phone call. Makes me think the guy was getting something for arranging this).

Bit of a result.

I've just called to cancel my Virgin card (fishing for a repeat 6 months 0%)and was asked why. I replied that the promotion rate had expired and there were other cards which are still doing 0%APR on balance transfers.

Her reply was 'OK, that accounts now closed, please cut up your card and destroy any Virgin cheques you may have'

I then asked if she was able to offer anything at all to keep my card, which her reply was - Possibly 0.9% but it's too late now, your account is closed.

    NOT HAPPY

I originaly said that I was thinking of closing my Virgin Credit card account.
After putting me on hold for 30-60 seconds she came back and asked why. I replied that my promotional rate had ended, the standard rate was high and there were other credit cards on the market offering 0% ie. Capital One.
She didn't immediatly reply but I could hear her tapping away on her keyboard. Then she said that my account would be closed and advised me to cut up card, tear up any virgin cheques and advised me that I may still get virgin mail shots for a months or so.
I asked if there was anything she could offer, which I was told that the standard rate could be lowered to I think it was 6.9% or a 0.9% balance tranfer. But she added that both were not available as she had just closed the account.

Thinking about it, I could have gone in better. A couple of months ago I got a phone call from Virgin offering me 0% for 6 months with capped £35 BT fee. When I agreed to take this up, the sales person said I couldn't as my promotional rate was still in effect. She advised me to call back when the promo rate had ended to see what they could do for me.

I should have opened tonights call with 'I was called a couple of months ago etc.. etc..'

    Never mind.... I have a plan B....

I'd built up a small amount (£2K) on my 0% Barclaycard which I had stashed away in a Cahoot Savings. But was expecting to trasfer this balance to the Virgin card if it had been extended for 6 months (Or SBT £8K into my Cahoot Savings).
The 0% on my Barclaycard ends this month, so I'm going to have to give them their cash back. :(
So I now need to be looking out for a new card. I currently have:

Capital One Platinum (3.9% LBT) £4K balance.
    Halifax One (0% 12 Months - 11 months remaining) £6K balance.
Mint (General Purpose day to day spending). Clear each month.
Barclaycard (0% just ended). To be cleared this month.
Cahoot Credit Card (Don't realy use). £0 balance.
I also have a £8K Cahoot Flexible loan (£0 balance) if I ever need to use it. This is currently 5.9%.

I'm thinking of an Egg Card - Ain't had one of them for a few years ;)

I had 0% Mint cheques when I first got my card. But it's since reverted back to standard rate and I ain't had any such tempting offers since (2+ years).

Then personally i would suggest there's no point in having the Mint card, when you could have any other 0% purchases card. If you cancelled the Mint, then you could wait until you were allowed back with them as a new customer so you could use it to SBT via cheques again.

    Just a thought.

Or point out to them you'd like a tempting offer or you'll cancel...

    AAagh

Just my luck - My Virgin cards been cancelled amost a month now, and what do they send me through the post.

A load of 0% till January 2007 Cheques with 2% Balance Transfer Fee capped at £35.

Even though my account is closed, which it does say so when I phone for my automated card details. Is it possible they could re-open it, or is it a lost cause.

Also in the post was some cheques from Barclaycard offering 0% until March 2007 with 2.5% Transfer fee (Uncapped though :( )

Is it worth using these or does the cap rule out any gains made in stoozin (Cahoots Savings Account). It says max transfer is £3,000 - My Credit limit is £8,200

I could also use the cheques as 6.9% LOB Transfer with max of £5,000 transfer.

I paid off my Virgin card, I called today to cancel. They asked why, I just said that I was going to have my loan topped up because I need more money. They offered a new balance transfer with 0% for 6 months with the fee capped at £50. I said my limit wasn't enough, so they said they would put in a request to have it raised and I should call back in an hour ... I did so, et voila ... It got raised and I put in the balance transfer. Swish.
