Can anyone help me find a good laptop for £450??

My daughter dropped her laptop and now the screen doesn't come on

Can anyone assist me in finding a replacement for approx £450?? I know I need to be looking for best size memory and hard drive (?) but also need to know if it will play games like The Sims.

Any help very much appreciated.

this would be my choice - and £100 below your budget

That's exactly the one I was just looking at, was about to ask if it was any good!

Would the integrated graphics be good enough for The Sims?

I do have accidental damage on my house insurance but am not sure if it is worth claiming as excess is £100 and I would lose 30% no claims bonus??

Though you might get old for new?

My son toppled his 26 inch Samsung LCD TV over, and the insurance company gave us a brand new 32inch Samsung to replace it!

I'd say it will be great. Its a great spec too.
  • I'd go for the Dell Inspiron 15

I currently have that and I cannot fault it

got it for £399 and it comes with a core 2 duo processor T5700, 3 GB ram, 250 GB hard drive and your usual 3 x USB 2.0, DVDRW etc...

also bear in mind it also comes with 1 year manufacture warranty

If your not keen on Dell ( don't know why you wouldn't) I would suggest looking at HP, as its the computers nasa use to launch space crafts.

My current pc is Dell so I'm more than happy to go for another Dell.

What's the problem with getting it fixed? It could be a straightforward screen replacement, or something even more simple.
No free lunch, and no free laptop ;)

It's a Hi Grade and was never the best laptop - I wouldn't want to go through house insurance, lose my ncd and just end up with the same dodgy laptop ;)
