Sold my Car!

Well since coming on here about 6 weeks ago I've really changed my attitude to money and one of the first things I identified was that spending £150 a month on a nice new car was really not a priority...

So I decided to sell it, and as of today I have done so and no longer owe the £5,500 I did this morning!

So it's farewell nice new Peugeot 206 and hello old Renault Clio which is costing me nothing a month and has cheaper insurance and petrol costs!

Now that's good money saving!

Got to thank this site, before I came along we were overspending every month by about £450, yes, that's £450 more going out than coming in...

Now we are just about even and things are going to get better.

Just had to share!

James

Well done James, its funny cos when you start 'living' MSE, you are more prudent with your spending and money, always on the look out for better deals and hardly ever pay full prices for things. I am a sucker for 'yellow stickers' in shops (sale/reduced) and scan the shops as soon as I walk in. My mates think i'm crackers, but I get all the best deals and they're just jealous lol!!
  • great stuff - well done :)

must say, when i have a look on the loans board and people post threads like 'want a new car - best loan' etc etc it makes me cringe :)

brilliant one!! When I see what people here spend on cars, its sometimes that crazy finance thats the tipping point! Well done you for downsizing, clios are very relaible little numbers I believe, hardly use any petrol and plenty of "parts" about should you ever have the misfortune to need one

    Happy driving xx
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind

    Thanks everyone!

Yes it's a nice little car actually, not much wrong with it and surprisingly comfortable for an 'R' reg.

To be honest it could be a tank and I'd be happy as long as it got us to work and back (yes, the wife and I carshare as well which saves money and gets me a £2 a day bonus from work!)

Now watch me resurrect this thread in August when the MOT's due and moan about having an old car... ;)

James I thought I'd have to shell out loads for my MOT,the sierra before I sold it cost me £500 to get through and I bought the citroen without an MOT and it cost me £65 last year and £30 this year :D
