hi , I know it should be based on what you can afford , but I live with a partner who is on reasonable money . I only work part time on a low income . What do people pay for a teenager to the ex?

Hi there stapeley, Im probably the wrong person to ask, but I dont believe it should be based on how much you can afford.
I have a little boy who is 7 and in his whole existance, his Dad has give me £70. Thats it.
Everytime the CSA catches up with him, he signs on the dole and works on the side and then takes out a crisis loan from the DSS, so that there is nothing left for the CSA to take. (they will deduct payments towards his crisis loan first before anything else and therefore determine he doesnt have enough left to deduct anything further.)
7 years down the line, he is remarried to someone else who has one daughter from her previous relationship and they now have a baby girl together. Yet our government determines that they should come before my child as far as his income is concerned? How is that Just???
He chose to have my child first, he chose to leave and start another family - that was up to him. But he should only be allowed to do that if he can afford to.
He had a family and if he can afford to have another one - then fine, so be it. But my child is entitled to NOTHING because someone deemed that he just wasnt that important cos my ex decided to have a new family.
What should your partner pay for his teenager who lives with his ex??
He should pay however much it would cost for them to live with you. He should pay what he paid when he lived there (ie half of everything).

Sorry - Im not meaning to give you a case history - but in short, regardless of your low income, you need to pay what is necessary for that childs needs.
If your income doesnt satisfy that amount - you need to do something about upping your income.

We pay £200 a month for DH's daughter and send money into her account for special outings, trips etc as and when needed. We don't earn big amounts but need to 'do our share' for want of a better wordTo love and be loved is the greatest happiness of existance - Sydney Smith0

Also I am on a low income so we have very little to live on and he lives very comfortable on his money!:j Proud mum to Jade age 10 years and Baby Ellie born Christmas Day:eek: with a broke heart

Hi
I recieve £170 per month for 2 teenagers - ex reduced the responsibilities in his work role so then his income dropped and therefore my money drops. I have to say that I agree with Jo - He can still afford to go out and buy new clothes - with 2 teenagers even working full time I cannot do this. The expenses that the teenagers generate do not stop or even reduce because his income reduces - when I cannot manage I have to take a second job - why cannot he do the same?
He did not even contribute to DD's recent prom so I managed by cutting back on the food budget not ideal I know!
I do not think that this is a suitable amount to contribute as they cost far more than this each month.
