in Credit cards
Logged into my SkyCard account this morning, no hint of anything wrong. Then this afternoon, a notice appears on their site - they are shutting up shop!
Then, 10 minutes later, the notice is gone! It's back to normal!
The gist of the message was that Sky and Barclaycard are no longer going to be offering SkyCard, and crucially that no more Sky Points will be earned from August 1st. Account holders will be contacted in September (presumably to close or transfer their accounts), and all points must be redeemed by October.
I promise I didnt dream it! Maybe it's a heads up of what's about to happen?
Shame because for Sky subscribers, this turned out to be a 1%+ cashback card.
Anyone else see this notice?

Might explain a lot of things. The site is definitely saying they are closing.0

Where's this then? I just came from Skycard to check my statements. The only thing I noticed was they slightly changed the web address.0

According to SkyCard.com they are indeed ceasing the SkyCard.
This is the text on site...
What happens now?
Sky and Barclaycard have decided to no longer offer a Sky credit card. We'll contact customers in September with details regarding their credit card account. Meanwhile, if you are an existing customer you can use your card and this site as normal.
No more Sky Points to be earned from 1 August, 2009
However, you need to know that from 1 August, 2009 you will no longer earn Sky Points every time you spend. And you must redeem any Sky Points already earned by 1 October, 2009.
Redeem all your Sky Points by 1 October, 2009
For every 500 Sky Points you can save £5 on your monthly bill or redeem 300 Sky Points to watch a Sky Box Office movie. You can also use Sky Points to buy Sky merchandise and accessories. Whatever you choose, you must redeem your points by 1 October, 2009. To find out more, check your balance or redeem your points, click here or call us on 0844 556 0080. Lines are open between 8am to 10pm Monday to Friday, and 8am to 6pm on Saturday.0 -

Glad they turned me down back in April now, would of had to find another rewards card.
Maybe that's why they turned me down, as I got another 2 cards elsewhere. (Hally and Amex):beer:0 -
This has been a good deal for me saving me £10 odd off my Sky TV bill each month.
Are there any similar offers available?
I don't like changing my card all the time for promotional rates and was happy with the 1% cashback rate. I see BT offer a card that gives money off line rental but its not quite 1%.0 -
what will happen with outstanding balances? will they be demanded upfront or transferred to another type of card?0

They will probably switch to a Barclaycard branded card like when BC bought Goldfish.I beep for Robins - Beep Beep
& Choo Choo for trains!!0 -

Yeah me to, I'm gutted there ceasing it to be honest especially as I have only today transferred my phone line rental to Sky as well
So where next then??? I'm considering either the Argos card (1% of all card spend as vouchers to spend in store - but do I need/want to spend £120 a year at Argos!?!) or Royal Bank of Scotland for the 1% cashback deal. Unless anyone else has any good ideas??? Decision's decisions0 -
