I don't really think this is in right place so please move it if u see fit to.
Does anyone have any tips, ideas or suggestions on how to deter my cats from sleeping on my gorgeous leather sofa!?? I have 2 cats, and when i have gone up to bed, they always sneak onto the sofa for the night..(i know this is what they do cos in the morning, every morning, the sofa is covered in loads of cat hair!! Is there a particular smell that i can rub/spray onto sofa that cats don't like..making them stay away?
Im not cruel enough to make them stay outside at night, they are NOT sleeping on my bed, and I can't shut them in the kitchen cos thats where the dog sleeps and they don't exactly see eye to eye..lol!
Any help will be appreciated cos its really annoying me that I have to do aload of cleanin first thing every morning before I can even get any breakfast!

Cats dont like citrus smells, so maybe wipe the sofa down with a citrus furniture polish, and see if that works!!??0

Could they sleep in a hallway?0

Put a cover on there at night? The ability of skinny old ladies to carry huge loads is phenomenal. An ant can carry one hundred times its own weight, but there is no known limit to the lifting power of the average tiny eighty-year-old Spanish peasant grandmother.0

Yep, I'd go with a cover. Or just a nice warm blanket over the seats.I've been lucky, I'll be lucky again. ~ Bette Davis0

It's a leather sofa... they wipe clean
Or I used to use throws for years before I had a leather sofa and that worked well
As for rubbing anything on a leather sofa then you need to be careful it doesn't damage the leather itself and cause it to discolour or crack...DFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

Hi i also have two cats and a cream leather sofa!!
My cats took a shine to sleeping on it, so all i do now is put them a lovely warm fleece blanket on there.
It works a treat, and they only sleep on that rather than the chairs etc.
Hope it works for you!!!!!!!!!!

I'm the same. Cream leather.
I have cushions, and they like to sleep on them with the added bonus if anyone comes round i will put the cushion on the floor, and then they will sit there instead.0 -
You could put their own pet beds on there, if they use such things. That way they'll get used to sleeping in their beds as there won't be any spare room on the sofa, and when the weather is a bit warmer perhaps you could move their beds into the kitchen, in the hope that they continue to sleep in them.
I assume your home is open-plan, otherwise I'd just shut the living room door!I haven't bogged off yet, and I ain't no babe

If you have radiators why not try getting a couple of the fluffy beds that fit over a radiator? My cats love them. Otherwise I would put a throw or blanket on the settees. Have they got beds of their own? Please don't take this the wrong way but they have to sleep somewhereThe world is over 4 billion years old and yet you somehow managed to exist at the same time as David Bowie0

I agree with catkins - they like somewhere off the ground and out of drafts to sleep so you need to provide them with somewhere. If you are happy with putting a throw on the sofa, that's probably the best option.
I'm confused as to how it is actually dirty after they've slept on it?:cool: DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :cool::heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j
