I have 2 bengal boys who are shut in the lounge every night - they sleep on settee and chairs but I keep throws on them and when anyone comes or if we want for ourselves we cant take them off - I wash them every weekend - they are only cats hairs and sometimes grit from the paws.

Helen81, I'm pretty sure it is essential oil of orange that is supposed to stop cats, I think I saw it suggested to rub on legs of furniture to stop them scratching...but i'm sure it would be fine on leather.

But, coming from the woman with a throw AND a blanket on the navy sofa and the white haired dog (sleeping there even as I write) probably not the best person to advise on keeping pets off the furniture LOL!

    Regards

Cats tend to sleep wherever they feel like it, and even if they know they're not allowed to go on certain items of furniture, they'll just wait until your back's turned or you're asleep and sleep there anyway :D :rotfl:

I've bought numerous catbeds for mine but they refuse point blank to sleep in them and much prefer my warm duvet, fleecy dressing gown or the fleecy blanket on the back of the sofa

If you want to try and entice them to sleep on a specific blanket/bed then try sprinkling it with a little catnip first ... not too much though or they'll be high as a kite!! :rotfl:

Why not make little nests for them to sleep on, and get a throw for the sofa but make the THROW smell like citrus rather than put it directly on the leather. Put the throw on at night and that way they should avoid it completely. After all, hair is easily manageable but if they claw it or something then your leather is ruined :(

Helen81, have you tried putting their bed onto the sofa, even though they aren't allowed on the sofa? The idea is to get them used to their beds then start edging their beds to where you want them to sleep. It may well work once they catch on they get used to the items that you provide for them to sleep on and if you shout at them to get off the bare sofa (and believe me, they know difference!!).
