Getting Over Forums Who Insist on ISP mail

Options
So I am not tied to an email address that the ISP give me I have farmed out my various communications between a few email addresses and pop them all from one to avoid endless spam.

But has anyone got a way around these Forums who insist on using ISP only email.
One of them allowed me to sign up with ISP mail and later change to webmail but another service will not.

Any clues please ?

  • Hello Snaffler,

My friend came up with a real ingenious solution to the problem of spam and being tied into an ISP for your email address:

Claim a domain name. There are many companies out there where you can get a domain name and set up your email in conjunction with your domain name.

When you claim a domain name, you get ALL the email addresses associated with it. So if you get the domain name snaffler.co.uk - you'll own all email addresses that end in @snaffler.co.uk. All email sent to addresses ending in @snaffler.co.uk will end up in your main inbox unless you set up rules and filters.

The benefit to this, with the fight against Spam, is that for every service you use - use a different email address:

If you sign up for an online movie service, use the email address: movie@snaffler.co.uk

    For your online groceries:
    Groceries@snaffler.co.uk

    For the online competition:
    Competition@snaffler.co.uk

When you start receiving a lot of spam addressed to your movie@snaffler.co.uk address, you know the online movie retailer has sold your address to a third party and you simply create a rule to filter all e-mails addressed to movie@snaffler.co.uk to a deleted items folder.

    I hope that makes sense!

    Kind regards,
    Samara

That sounds great can you give me an clues to who may be a good service to use for this kind of thing?.

So in effect I have one catch all email address with various filters, like it.
But what companies offer this service. I am a tad green in this area.

    Thanks

    Jay
