Advice regarding floorboards

I bought some laminate to put down in the nursery we are decorating for LO due in September. On pulling the carpet up we found some gorgeous floorboards so have just returned the laminate.
The floorboards have already been sanded and varnished/glossed (not sure of right terminology!!).
I just want to know what (if anything) I should do to them to clean them up a bit - Would Sugar Soap do the job?
We plan to put a rug down in there but I want the boards to look at their best without too much money or effort.
TIA

Did you varnish them or were they already varnished? If you varnished them then the care should be explained on the tin I'd have thoughtDFW Nerd #025DFW no more! Officially debt free 2017 - now joining the MFW's!

They were already varnished. We moved in a year ago and they were covered with carpet.

You can buy wood floor cleaner from the supermarket.
I know Tesco / Adsa sell the Cif brand of it.
Works very much the same as general purpose floor cleaner you would use in the kitchen / bathroom.0 -
Thanks Doug - maybe I'll do that first and see how I get on.
