Rac Membership - A Great Deal?

Speech-Mark-Left.gif
OFFICIAL NOTE

SORRY RAC COVER FOR £13 ISN'T POSSIBLE.
BUT IT IS FOR £14

A little bit of small print has put a hitch in the £13 cover noted in this weeks e-mail, yet it's still possible to get the cover for £14

To do this you just pay for it in Tesco Clubcard vouchers. When used for RAC cover you get four times the face value worth, so you can get a £60 policy for just £14 of vouchers.

This is covered in full detail, as are all the other top Roadside Recovery options are in the Cheapest Roadside Recovery article.

What's wrong with the tipnote/post below?

Sadly (and i missed it too), while the RAC is offering cashback on these policies, it's only offering it on RAC Solutions. This is its cover, excluding the basic package. So while you can get a £70 policy with £30 cashback you can't get the £43 policy and get cashback.

Am i missing something or is there a great deal going on at rac? join rac and get £30 worth of fuel free (you do have to buy full on two separate occasions worth £30 each minimum and they give you £15 towards each transaction)

geeh i was going to say get £15 from quidco too but the petrol offer is only if you phone! awww.

still you get rac cover for £4.40 if im right? £34.40 - £30. (just realised cover is dearer to buy on phone isnt it £40? still rac cover for £10?)

word of caution - it seems they want you to set up an automatic payment yearly but you can simply cancel this right?

Call 0800 056 2514 and quote WEBMAR This offer is not available online, but you can still join online and benefit from 20% off all levels of breakdown cover.

Well, just as advice, if your going on hols this cover will only tow you 10 miles to a garage ...
  • Just seen the R A C advert in Mondays Daily Mail,so I rang and was asked what cover i wanted ,Roadside is all i need ,so they quoted me £43.00,and i get to claim two sums of £15.00,with the petrol vouchers they provide ,all as described by marko4ever25.
I think this is a win-win deal where else can you buy 12 months road-side assistance for £13.00???

We have recently discontinued our 20 years plus membership of RAC. At the very time we needed them, we couldn't even get a REPLY to our (mobile) telephone call. The phone's battery went flat and I ran out of credit whilst waiting for the pre-recorded message to be transferred to a real person to take details! Could this be why they are offering such a cheap deal?

I rang them last week for this deal after getting the offer via a leaflet.
The Indian call centre operator was barely able to speak English (Yes, I know his English is better than my Hindi - but I don't get paid to speak his language). He told me I could have this offer, but not on the basic membership. He said I'd have to spend about £80 to get the vouchers. Waste of time!
