  • I have included my basic pay as I am only contracted for 4 hours per week but have been doing more so the extra can go straight off my debt.
  • There are 2 adults and 1 cat
  • OH has a van from work so don't pay any vehicle related costs
  • I am on Virgin's £30 for phone, internet and TV
  • Lottery is £3.50 per week and OH wants to keep it as it's his hope!!
  • I left entertainment blank as I will be at college and working so probably won't really go out and if we do can always use the household emergency fund
  • I also ebay, when I have time, and make anything from £80-£500 a month
Well I am now saving to go to New York at the end of August and I am sure it will feel so much better to be able to pay for everything and not have to worry about the credit card bills when we get home.

I must just remember to actually save the money and not just fritter it away on things that I "need" like clothes, take aways etc. I would be so mad at myself if I fell back into bad habbits.

Plus, If I do more hours at work and get extra money then I will transfer the difference into my savings account to stop me wasting it.

I MUST just make sure I stay disciplined now and not get carried away just because I am debt free. I would like to actually buy a house at some point and I still have university/drama school to get through so I need to be sensible.

I may also join the NSD and grocery challenges as I get very competitive and I am sure they will keep me on the right track.

    Hiya saver,
Congratulations on becoming debtfree. Good for you. You will absolutely love New York, it's a magical city, DW and I went last November, to renew our wedding vows, if you like swing music, try swing 46, but check out their itinerary, as they have some excellent dancers, who will show you the moves. Have a great time and Good Luck

I'm very lucky to have a great friend (sadly he's gay, or I'd have snapped him up years ago!) who earns a fortune and loves to go to New York every year... I'm the poor girl that gets "dragged" with him (it's a hard life!!) and yeah - I have to endure hours on 5th ave not being able to afford anything, but I also get to eat in great places and meet fabulous people.... things I'd never get the opportunity to do.

I adore the place... it's like no other place on earth!!!

I have so much work to do for college and not enough time  but what makes it worse is that, as usual, it is my own fault due to my best skill, procrastination :rotfl:

I will be glad when college is over, well only if I manage to get all the work done in time! I will be able to work more when I am finished and get seriously saving, as long as I don't fritter away the extra money.

Well I must dash so I can go over my lines and maybe start crossing things off the list!

I am glad I managed to cross off most of my list but I really wish I had made a start on one of the other jobs.

I only have 1 week to get those last 2 jobs done but with my 12 hour days at college and then working at the weekend I will definately have to manage my time effectively.
