Frozen single cream?

A few weeks ago my local supermarket was selling off big tubs of single cream at dirt cheap prices. SO i thought "brilliant, it'll freeze!" However after defrosting one to use today i have learnt the heard way that cream doesn't freeze well.
It has seperated as it defrosted. Gave it a stir but still doesn;t look like it did fresh.
Is there anything i can use it for rather than waste the cream? Or do i just put it down to experience.....

dh says if you whip cream THEN freeze it it keeps better... haven't done it myself though so i don't know if single cream would whip well enough
however next time they have loads of cream on clearance (quite common in some stores) if you can buy equal amounts of single cream and double cream you can make whipping cream by mixing them together
still, you may wish to experiment with whipped cream first...just in case dh is full of it
i'd use it in baking or soupfounder of Frugal Genius UK (Yahoo Groups)0 -
I read about freezing cream as I had some single and froze it and it went unusable.
Apparently you cant freeze it because the low fat content makes it curdle on defreezing.
Mixing it with double or whipping as suggested sounds the best to me and I'll try that when some are on offer again. The curve that can set a lot of things straight is a smile0 -
