A guy from Avanti-Passort called me 10 minutes ago.
Their number was 0952 850510. I never usually answer those types of numbers but stupidly I did.
He said he'd got my phone number from another travel company which I'd booked with in January.
He said I was entitled to holidays in "Europe and Kent" at greatly discounted prices. He said he'd email me all the details however (as usual) it all seemed too good to be true so I said I'd check out their website before I gave them my email address.
Obviously I realise that they have my email address if they have my phone number, but they can't do their usual aggressive sales techniques via email.
When I said I'd check out their website first, he got very aggressive and kept talking over me. He wouldn't let me speak so I said I was hanging up.
Incredibly rude salesman, obviously a timeshare company or worse and I would avoid them at all costs.0 -
Has any one used avanti passport for holiday? I have been contacted and offerd what sounds like a great deal. Can any one give me the full story on the company or better still any one who has used them and lived to tell the tale????
tks0 -
Hi
over christmas we went away with avanti holiday, after a phone call about one of their weeks holiday there offered me in connection with the insurance company i recently purchased insurance with.
we got offered a holiday for 59 pounds for the week, sounded to good to be true!!! all we had to pay for was our flights.
sounds like a scam??you would think.
They kindly sent us the information on their resorts.
First of all we wanted to to the praia da oura in portugal, but wanted to do some research before we booked it,to makesure it wasnt a scam.
We were happy because they didnt seem to have a bad reputation like some of the other holiday supose to be legit companies that give offers out like this.
After that we called them to book a week, because we had left it so late we missed out on club praia da our and settled for their oura view beach resort insted.
When we arrived we greated and shown to a very spacious apartment.
We enjoyed our holiday and wasnt pesterd by any reps to my surpirse!
We would use them again if they had resorts in the rest or the world not just europe.

Went away to Praia da Oura with Avanti and Petchey Travel last November. Just booked another with them for later in 2010. Yes they are a timeshare, and yes you are adults. Go on holiday cheaply, if they invite you to a meeting, politely refuse! Now that you've left home you can make grown up decisions on your own.0

HI
Have had two calls from AVANTI today .this wasn't completely out of the blue as I left them my e-mail address and mobile number ,the guy was quite pleasant and asked if I was interested in holidays in SPAIN OCT/NOV time there was no hard sell I did at the close of the conversation ask if they were in any way associated with TIMESHARE HIS response was defenitely not but,we do own the hotels in the various locations ,so there you have it ,I would be interested to hear from anyone who has had a successful experience with this outfit ,incidentally they are registered on THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND (COUNTY CLARE) I don't know what or how they might be regulated .0 -
Hi,
went to the ideal hone show and completed a card to win a holiday. i put down my mobile number and email address. I received a call from Petchey Leisure today telling me i had won a 1 week holiday for a family of 4 in either spain, portugal or tenerife. all i had to do was to pick the dates between 1st nov 2010 to 31st march 2011, pick the resort off of the email they sent me then confirm back to them when i had booked my flights. All i have to pay for is my flights only. Is this to good to be true or has anyone else experienced this and if so what happened? Regards, Gary.0 -
The aim of all these promotions is to get you to the resort, where you will be off guard, and try to sell you a timeshare (unlikely), holiday points (more likely) or membership of a bogus holiday 'club' (most likely). If you are good at saying NO under pressure then with the more 'genuine' of them it's possible to get a cheap holiday.
The less genuine of them realise this isn't going to work often enough, so thay take a non refundable processing payment for the holiday and then mess you around saying your dates cost extra or you have to go next week from a distant airport or lose the holiday.
This particular outfit - no idea. The fact that they were at the Ideal Home Exhibition is no guarantee - all they have to do is pay for a stand and by the time the organisers cotton on they've got their call list compiled.
My own inclination would be to ignore them0 -
I recently got a call from Avanti-passport, telling me i got a free week giveaway from the IdealhomeShow at Earls Court held earlier this year. They also advertise this on idealhomeshowholidays website
A bit reluctant to go as i think it is a scam, but still tempted. Anyone had any call like that? If yes, have you taken their promotion and gone to the holiday resort given by Avanti (they gave me the Vera Beach Club resort), without having to pay any hidden cost?
on the phone they lady did ask me if i have already paid any marketing fee yet, when i ask what she meant, she just ask me to ignore this bit!! sounds very fishy!
I did my research and Leisure Dimensions Limited (LDL) is the company behind all this. The company is registered in Kent and funnily it has the same address as the holiday resort in Kent. LDL runs the website of petcheyleisure , and also avanti-passport website.
Worryingly this company looks like it has never filed an account with Companies House
on the other side, if it is a genuine promotion for timeshare then i believe the whole thing is legit. Just need to get some confirmation from other people who has been through this to the end.
