Virgin Atlantic Flying Club sale - redeem flights for up to 50% off

If you're a member of Virgin Atlantic's frequent flyer club, known as its Flying Club, now's a good time to fly as the airline's having an up to half-price redemption sale on some economy-class routes from London, mostly to the US. This means you may only need half the normal number of miles required per flight.
You can also get 20% off some posh premium economy seats.
However, you still have to pay full taxes on top (which cost around £200 in economy), but this is a good deal if you've amassed some points to burn as these are all medium-to-long-haul routes.
Where can I fly to (return) in Economy class & what will the taxes cost?

Where can I fly to (return) in Premium Economy class & what are the taxes?

Where can I fly from?
Although Virgin flies from Aberdeen, Belfast, Edinburgh, Glasgow, London and Manchester, the special deals are only available from London airports. So you'll need to first travel to the capital, the cost of which could wipe out any benefits, if you're coming from afar.
When can I fly?
There are no exclusions for these deals, so you can fly at any time, though only while there is still availability. As with any frequent flyer bookings, the number of available seats on each flight tends to be limited.
How do I book?
You'll first need to log into your account, where you'll then see the 'Reward Seat Sale' on the right-hand side of the page. Click into that page where you can book your flights. You can also book by phone but it is normally easier online.
When do I need to book by?
Virgin says the current routes at the current prices will be on sale until at least the end of April. After that, it may change the routes but nothing has yet been decided.
The Savings
As an example of what you can save for a specific date in peak-time July, the cheapest return flights we found to New York would set you back £400. Use your Virgin miles and you'll save around £200.
However, it's possible to pay as little as £250 on some return trips to the Big Apple, which only represents a £50 saving.

Can i be the first to kick start the backlash against the pathetic rip off flying club.
Its a joke. Probably 1 person each year actually gets a decent deal.0 -
I must be that person, Sturll. We have recently returned from Florida, travelling business class to Orlando, and first class from Atlanta, courtesy of BA. In addition, my companion was "free", courtesy of BA/Amex card.0

OK, it must be me then:p
Got 2 Upper Class returns to San Francisco last Sept with my miles and treated my Mum to her first ever flight for her 65th birthday. (only problem now is she wants to go to the USA again, and in Upper Class, could take a few more years to build those miles up)0 -

i've had 4 upper class returns through the VA flying club before now.
booked return tickets from ORD - LHR for this xmas. 25,000 miles per person and total of about £400 fees. fees on the high side but US airways were quoting $2500 per ticket to fly at that time of the year. so i'm happy

Ah well then, my brother must be that man. He regularly flies in Upper Class using Flying Club points. Lucky chap amasses the points when flying with Virgin for business and then gets to spend them when flying for pleasure.0
