Sony Ericsson X1- Not very fuel efficient

Options
Re - charge the battery every day, runs out after a few calls and checking for emails.

Keep having to charge it every day and that is after 2 or 3 calls, a couple of texts and checking for emails twice and there is nothing running in the background, is it faulty or is that just the way it is?

Sounds faulty. Mine get 2-3 days of normal to light use phone wise, and it checks emails every 15 minutes and blue tooth is usually off.

Do you live in a 3G area? Or even an area where the 3G signal is a bit sketchy?

Last year when I was in Exeter, I found when I was at home in an area with sketchy 3G signal my battery would run out qute quickly. When I was on campus the signal was almost completely 2G and it generally lasted longer.

When I was travelling for interviews my battery was running out. Part of this is due to going through tunnels and the increased drain as the phone looks for a signal. I had to increase the time between when the phone checked for emails (now on 1 hour) and made the screen dim quicker.

There's more battery life to be had from these phones, but you wont ever get more than two days out of it on one charge if you actually use it (although I have got four days with absolute minimal use).

if its one that was released in january, its apparently firmware update to make the phone start quicker and attach to the network faster.
  • It's a new one this month. I'm on o2 if that makes any difference.

Can only assume that the O2 version of this software update is now available. Updates are released at different dates depending on the network operator so this will be the Jan update with O2 tweaks. Xda Devs have a section on the X1 seeing as it an htc developed phone so you'll probably find more info there.
