Cleaning a plastic patio table?????

Options
I have 'inherited' an old plastic patio table and 2 chairs with my new house. They are covered in a green moss/algee type stuff. Does anyone have any top tips for how to bring them back to life, or should I dump them and get new ones? Preferbably a home remedy of bleach or toothpaste or something would be good as I suspect paying for any shop product would be dear and just as cheap to buy new furniture.

Thanks in advance

hmmm, not sure of a home made cleaner however homebase/b&q do a patio cleaner which is quite good. If all else fails there is always Cilit Bang - pretty good at most things :D

I used the cheap version of Mr Muscle drain cleaner from the pound shop. Came up a treat!

Try some Jif/Cif type cream cleaner. I have an Asda Smartprice one that cost about 24p and works really well.
Just run, run and keep on running!

  • Thank you all for your suggestions. Can get hold of a power washer so will try that first then finish off with some chemicals.

Another job for the weekend now..... :O

The £ shop sells Astonish paste. This would be good.

I'll second the above, re Astonish paste. It would clean up the patio table and chairs no problem. All you need is some a few cloths and some elbow grease. Should be able to pick up a tub for a quid no problem. Think you can get a version of it now with Orange oil in it too, as well as the original stuff. Like a granular cleaner, great stuff for cleaning up.
