Train ticket to London
Hello
I am really struggling for a train ticket to London for this weekend travelling from Newcastle.
I have a Young Person's (16-25) Railcard and am looking to leave Newcastle on Friday 27/3 sometime after 1500 and arrive back on Sunday 29/3 any time before midnight.
The cheapest I can get this journey appears to be not much short of £70.
I have tried splitting at Doncaster and Peterborough and this seems to do nothing for the price, nor does "booking through" to Clapham Junction.
Does anyone have any suggestions on how to do this particular journey for any less or do I have to resign myself to the idea that it's either £70 or I don't go?
Thanks a gazillion in advance
Rich

Can you get to Sunderland? If you can, you can buy a "Grand Central Trains only" ticket and travel direct to London from Sunderland. The journey does take a bit longer, but is only £45.55 return with railcard. http://www.grandcentralrail.co.uk/timetable.html
As the tcket suggests you can only travel with Grand Central on this ticket.
Alternatively, try splitting at York.Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place0 -
Seconded. A Newcastle-Sunderland single ticket is £2.90 - not sure of the Metro price.AirlieBird wrote: »Can you get to Sunderland? Thanks guys, the Sunderland fare is walk-up too, so I will purchase on the day of travel.
Not the exact time I wanted, but for a £25 saving I am delighted!
Again, many thanks. Will bear this in mind for future.
