The injectors are £300 each...(and can be a mission to remove)
The seats don't wear well.
At least they don't rust like the MB cars do though."Love you Dave Brooker! x"

Not bad on built quality, but they ride like a blamange... Watch out for problems with manifolds too...0

I am looking for 7 Seater MPV and thought mercedes should be very reliable and not expensive to run. Which one you suggesting?jeannieblue wrote: »Have you thought about another make?

But Mercs are all about the bagdes and they are really not great these days and have loads and loads of issues.
ML?? What about the VW Toureg? Isn't that about the same size? Nicer to look at too - speaking from a female perspective. Or an RX300? Aren't they all the same size as an ML or am I getting confused......

That may have been true from 1995 to around 2000, but no longer. I own a 1997 E-class and while the rust is terrible, at 223,000 miles the engine is a peach, the suspension is fine, the gearbox is still working perfectly, and I have negligible electronic problems (a failing heater valve if you must know). The interior is totally (I mean that) rattle and squeak-free, and the engine is almost inaudible at anything up to 80mph. This on a 12 year old car that's gone the equivalent of almost nine times around the world.
Even in their worst period, they still built quality cars. I've been around most nooks and crannies on my car and the attention to detail is far superior than others that I've owned.jeannieblue wrote: »ML?? What about the VW Toureg? ahah, you speak about quality and then start talking about VW. Classic.
To the OP, I'm considering an ML, but the 270 is a little bit slow for me, so I'm looking at the 320CDi. Not this year though. Stay away from the dealer network for anything other than parts and bodywork warranties, and use MB specialists for servicing. Look at the UK based MB forums, there are lots of recommendations. Labour is typically about £50 an hour at an indie, and parts are nowhere near as expensive as you might think.0
