I wanna a Dyson DC07 vacuum cleaner!

Think my seven year old Dyson DC04 has finally given up the ghost. It's making a very loud screeching noise and not picking anything up. I've tried all the usual unblocking techniques but nothing seems to work.
I just wondered if anyone could find a DYson DC07 (think it's their most basic upright model) for less than the £133.00 that Amazon are asking?
I've checked my local Costco but they've only got the all singing all dancing versions for around the £200.00 mark.
TIA and if anyone can get it cheaper, I'd love to know how you've done it - I've never seen such successful bargain hunters as on this site!

Hi tipsychick,
It might be worth taking a look at this thread: Anyone had a Dyson Service visit?

Hi Rubber Duck, Welcome to mse.
I'm afraid there is a rule about exchanging personal details. Sorry.
EXCHANGING PERSONAL DETAILS
Hi, Martin’s asked me to post this in these circumstances: For legal reasons I have to discourage swapping, buying and selling on the forum (please see this rule). While it can be a very useful way of saving money it relies on a certain amount of trust between members and as such can cause problems (and has in the past). If you have any questions about this policy please email abuse@moneysavingexpert.com.0 -

Sorry again I'll keep it in mind for the future. I'll get round to reading the rules soon too."That's a big 10 - 4 Good Buddy"£2 Coin Savers Club

Thanks everyone for your replies.
Can't decide whether or not to get Dyson out to service it now. I'm pretty sure it's the motor that's gone. It's making an ear-bleedingly loud noise! I've taken everything apart and stuck a wire coathanger through all the tubes, etc. to unblock them and still nothing.
Not sure whether Dyson would replace a motor on a callout. It's certainly well out of the guarantee period. I might be better putting the £55.00 callout charge towards a new one.
Has anyone seen any relevant threads on MSE that they could point me to on vacuum cleaners in general? I did search but nothing came up! I'm not particularly bothered about having a Dyson again, I just thought that they seem to be the market leaders nowadays.
PS Lovely offer Rubberduck but I think the postage would probably put the kibbosh on it!0 -
I just got the 1900 version of this vacuum from the Tesco daily offer, it was reduced from £70 to £50. Don't seem to have that model number now so I guess that is why it was reduced.
Just put it together so will post back later what I think of it. BTW it was to replace a Dyson

Thanks for all the links Pink-winged. The're just what I needed.
Having read everyone's views, I'm not sure that I do want a Dyson anymore! I just assumed that it was mine that was held together with gaffer tape and had had it's hose replaced twice. I must admit Dyson's customer service was pretty good but it was still under guarantee at the time. It was collected from the door the next day and then delivered back mended the day after.
I'd prefer an upright as I've had back problems in the past and have cream carpets throughout to hoover. Not a day goes by when I don't regret such a stupid choice of colour but was going through my minimalist phase at the time!
I might go for a Sebo or a Miele but they're so expensive. Edinburghlass's one looks fine too and certainly a lot cheaper. Think I'll go and have a look at them in John Lewis tomorrow first and see what I think.
Will report back after my fact finding mission!0 -
I have a 3 year old dc-07 animal. I just got a new cyclone part as free a few weeks back as the vacuum cleaner was cutting out after 15 minutes or so, then it would work 5 mins later for a minute. I rang them today and they suggested a reapir maxmium cost is £55 so I went for it. They are coming tommorow, but I have to wait in all day unless I ring in the morning to get a better picture of what time they are coming,0
