I just updated it last week, there was a new version brought out in December 2008 as apparantely people where having constan crashes, I was one of them and have posted about it on here, but since then all has been fine, but Linux still wont run:mad:

  • Your best bet is to pick one of the distros you have tried, and then raise this query on the distro's own technical forum. You'll need to say exactly what you did when you tried to install, where you got your CD from, and what error messages there were, so that people can help you.

Use Google to find the relevant forum's address.

Try this, boot up the ubuntu cd but when it gets to the splash screen press F6 for boot options. I'm doing this from memory so it might not be F6.

You will be presented with a line of code you can edit ending in "--" without the quotes. Delete the two "--" and in their place type "irqpoll" without the quotes and press enter. See if that works.

I will try it later, Having had a search around it appears to be a graphics card problem, Linux does not like my geForce card.

Give credit to windows XP. At least it installs before it freezes ;)

Not really fair since windows wouldn't install at all if the hardware manufacturers weren't doing all the hardwork for M$ and writing drivers, whereas the developers in linux have to write their own drivers with no help which is why you have problems like this.
