OMP International and Dionne Warwick Concert

www.liverock.org.uk is advertising a Dionne Warwick concert at Alexandra Palace on 31st July 2009. It seems to be a legitimate offer and even got a mention in the Guardian:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2009/jan/19/dionne-warwick-car-sales-glastonbury-credit-crunch
I ordered some tickets, paying for them with a credit card. Just recently they emailed me to say they were refunding my money and would I please pay for the tickets again but this time by cheque. On checking my credit card account I find the money has not been credited, this might be innocent, perhaps it's just taking time for the money to go through. However, the request for a second payment by cheque sounds very suspicious.
Anyone else has dealings with OMP International/ Live Rock/ Warner Live or bought tickets for this concert?
12-feb-09: I have received a refund on my credit card. However, I will not be sending a chqeue: it offers no protection if things do go wrong.

I heard about the concert on Magic Radio and immediately went to the website and booked 4 tickets. I paid for the tickets with my credit card via paypal and have the receipt to say it was successfully paid. I was surprised when they said there was a problem with the on line booking and was asked to confirm that I had the correct amount of tickets. I called the "box office" and gave the chap my receipt number and said that I had ordered 4 tickets and had paid for them via paypal. I was told this was fine. I, like you, received another email stating that because of problems my card would be refunded the full amount and was asked to send a cheque or postal order to a London address. I was a bit wary so contacted Alexandra Palace who told me that the concert had been "pencilled in" but was no longer taking place there. I contacted my credit card provider and they confirmed that the amount had been charged to my card but there was no refund. I am trying to get to the bottom of it but the only thing i get from the liverock.org.uk site is a disclaimer which was a bit baffling to say the least, but I will persist and will not be sending a cheque to anyone.www.liverock.org.uk is advertising a Dionne Warwick concert at Alexandra Palace on 31st July 2009. I also bought a ticket with my debit card, and am getting the same messages as others (mostly in capital letters). I haven't received the promised refund either, and am alarmed to hear that the concert isn't taking place after all. I certainly won't be sending a cheque.
I saw it advertised in the Observer.0 -
Me too! I paid for one ticket at £89.00 back in October 2008 then paid £178.00 for two more in February 2009 and then I was asked for a cheque to replace the 2nd payment which had been duly refunded through Paypal. Despite many requests and emails in block caps from liverock.uk I still have not received the refund of £89.00. The venue of Alexandra Palace has apparently been changed to the Hammersmith Apollo but there is no listing on their website! I have been advised not to send any payment by cheque and can only hope that my original payment will be refunded and that I can buy tickets elsewhere.0

If they had not given me a full and prompt refund, I would not just wait. You can complain to your credit card company and/or paypal.
You can also get the contact details for the website's owner by going to http://whois.domaintools.com, entering liverock.org.uk and pressing Lookup
It is a requirement of registering this type of website that up to date contact details are maintained. However, it is claimed later in this discussion that the contact listed is unconnected with the concert promoter.0 -
UPDATE ON MY PREVIOUS MESSAGE: After lots of confusing and unclear emails, I got a clear one, which told me that although I didn't book through Paypal, OMP only deals with them, and when I booked I would have been sent a Paypal confirmation with a unique booking number.
It advised me to log into my Paypal account and go to the resolution centre. This didn't work as the number was not the right number of digits (ie not the length of an eBay transaction number).
So I emailed them and they replied within a day to say that they have manually created a "non-receipt dispute case". Presumably, they are already doing that for other ticket holders. Hopefully they will sort it out. Luckily my debit card is linked to my Paypal account, which should help.
I should think that non Paypal members could email or phone, and that they can do something similar for them. Will let you know if it works!0 -
I have purchsed many tickets from Warner Live, LiverockUk and OMP International and have always been pleased with their service.I know some of the directors personally and the company is not registered at the address stated nor does it employ anyone by the names stated. The concert is going ahead at The Apollo. It is no longer going at at The Alexandra Palace because there are NO seating facilities.
Why do you expect a refund when the concert is not cancelled.
If you persist on posting bad statements and incorrect statements about the company then the concert will not go ahead because no one will buy a ticket.
Warner Live, Liverock and OMP are concert promoters not ticket touts.
Tickets, as clearly stated on the website , will arrive no later than 2 weeks prior to the date of the event,
A great deal of effort and money has been invested in to this show. Contracts have been signed by the artist and deposits have been made.
Please do not continue with these FALSE ACCUSATIONS !
Yours Juliet Lewis

Hi Juliet,
Can you answer this question?
WHY DOES THE HAMMERSMITH APOLLO SAY, AND I QUOTE
"The contract between promoter & venue is yet to be signed for the Dionne Warwick concert. Warner LIVE/OMP International should NOT be selling tickets until confirmation as been agreed. We advise NOT to purchase tickets for this event at this time. When this has been completed we will post the concert onto the Hammersmith Apollo website"
PLEASE EXPLAIN THAT!!! That call was made directly to the Hammersmith Apollo this week after seeing the ad in the Guardian on Tuesday 3rd March.
Look forward to your comments.0 -
Hold on with the false accusations Juliet. I am happy for you that you have purchased tickets previously. What I am saying is that I purchased 4 tickets for the concert and received a paypal receipt, only to receive an email saying the payment could not be processed and being asked for a cheque or postal order which, as the others have said, seems very strange. Alexandra Palace told me direct that the concert was not happening there and said it was only "PENCILLED IN". I had paid for 4 Seated tickets, why would they advertise seated tickets if Alexandra Palace has no seating? How can some tickets include the cost of travel if the concert changes venues? If there had been any confirmation that the concert was indeed taking place at the Apollo that would be something but for them to say cards would be refunded is also very strange and apparently Dionne Warwick is not on their listings. I checked on Dionne Warwicks own website and did not see the concert date either. My creditcard provider is investigating at the moment.
And, call me cynical, but do you actually work for them? I for one would be pleased to hear your answers to my questions above.0 -
I was going to report that I had received a curious email from "Ireland Music Law" on "behalf of my afore mentioned clients" that didn't seem at all like a legal document, although it threatened to take action against libelous comments. However, I see that a note with some similar content has been posted here. The large bold type reminds me of the answers in caps that I used to get from OMP.
Something told me that it wouldn't be a good idea to reply direct and invite direct involvement, so perhaps I can just say here that I paid for one ticket and ordered a second, but when the required payment date for the second one abruptly changed from March to early February, I had to let it go.
As regards seating, I ordered a standing ticket, which I preferred. Any promoter would surely check a venue's layout before considering it, so I don't understand the seating argument; but as the Apollo advises, it would be best not to book until arrangments are confirmed.
I must say that I have been to a lot of gigs over many years (can still stand though!) and use various agencies, but I have never come across anything like this before.
Still no refund, by the way, although Paypal are looking into it.0 -
I too received a threatening email which I will be taking legal advice on tomorrow. Is a shame as I was looking forward to the concert but they have not done themselves any favours in arranging it. I did check Dionne Warwick's website and it shows the Apollo Hammersmith as the London date. Paypal replied to my query but apparently I am out of time.0
