Is my car due a service?
I bought a 07 reg Peugeot 307cc last September from a Peugeot dealership. It had 8000 miles on the clock and I am just wondering when it's due its first service. It now has 12000 miles on the clock.
According to the Peugeot website the first service is due at 12000 miles. But i have only drove it 4000 miles since i bought it. So is it due now or later? Does the pre buy full check count as service? Or does it not count and I need to get it done now?
Thanks for any help you can give, it was due to the friendly people on here that i saved over £3000 off the price of the car!:j

To keep your car on top condition, you should have a full service at the recommended mileage service interval or at 12 monthly intervals, whichever occurs first.
I would say that the pre-check it had before you bought it doesn't count as these checks don't usually include a full service. As its a relatively new car, the service history should be included with the handbook - that will tell you when it had its last proper service.If you will the end, you must will the means.0 -
Yes, as Staffie has said, it needs a service. The garage you bought it from would do the basic checks, but not a makers service and a stamp on the service book.Mortgage free

If your book isnt stamped then it needs a service, probably did when it was 1 year old OR 12k. If you bought it in Sept 08 then it would have been between 12-18months old then, garage should have serviced it.
1. check with them argue it should have been done as without it there was no warranty and Im sure they would have said there was still. (if youre lucky they just didnt stamp book and you dont need another til 2 yrs old)
2. If you have to get it serviced, save money, shop around and consider using small garages. Its likely this service is an intermediate one so not much more than oil and filter.....but must be geniune parts for warranty validation.

It will tell you in your service book what the service intervals are. They do vary alot.Genie

I'm even more confused now, I have looked in the service book and there is no service stamps or anything about a previous owner. I know when i test drove the car that there was stuff naming the previous owner but there isn't now. It looks like a new service booklet, so by looking at the lack of stamps i'm guessing the car hasn't been serviced. Going to ring the dealer and find out whats going on. I'm worried now that this has made my warrenty invalid. Any advice on what i should say to the dealer?
As you can guess i'm not good with things like this! Typical women!!!0 -
Ask them politely and firmly why your book has not been stamped. Ask for the service history.
