...but I'll post it just in case.

I've been disheartened by the cost alternatives, so will investigate LD.
Good luck everyone.

Thanks for posting that - we've not had the email, even though we were SpeedFerries disappointees!

Norfolkline doing good deals too if we can plan & book soon - just need to decide which one to go for; Norfolkline allow amendments without charge; not sure about LD?

Nor I Barter - and at first blush I can't add trailer to this(promotional?special SFcircs? therefore limited?)booking. I'll look into it further.
Boulogne is pref. for further driving for me.

• If you do have problems with the booking site, I would recommend you contact call.center@transmancheferries.com - this is the call centre in Dieppe who are reported to be very helpful or lehavretourisme@ldlines.fr, this is the Le Havre terminal who I have always found very helpful.

Decision made - I've booked 2 returns on Norfolkline, via Ferry Cheap, as it seems the only one offering the amendable fares. Here's the link: http://www.ferrycheap.com/norfolkline-offer.asp
Hope that helps someone; book by 18th Feb.

LD is going back 20 years, when P&O ran this service.
The caravan people used to get the cheapest cross channel deals for the early hours of the morning, sleep in the waiting lanes and avoid the extra haul to and from Calais.
Not sure if you have to be able to PROVE you are a disappointed Speed Ferries customer to get the cheap opening deal ?

I don't think so - seems to me that they are not checking; we changed email address in the midst of the d!bacle, our old address, as registereed with the ferry company, is now invalid. We are bona fide old customers, but with a different email address, yet they've still taken our booking on the 'deal'.

There is something in the T's & C's about producing a ticket.
Are LD sending you a "paper" ticket; rather than just supplying an "e" reference (Megabus style) so their computer recognises you when you book in?

I thought it was possible LD were expecting the traveller to produce an old (failed?) Speed Ferries ticket - come to think of it, as I usually buy the cheapest, I cannot actually remember how the Speed Ferries system worked - only used it twice.
• I got the email, we used Speedferries many times but didn't have acancelled trip at all when they went bust.
