Hi there,
I have been debating for a while now whether or not to change to Tesco mobile.
I am currently on o2 so it’s the same network.
I have just bought 2 sim packs from Tesco (the standard tariff not the value one as that is more basic) but wanted some info before I make the jump.
It looks as though it should save us a few pounds as you can have 3 favourite numbers, get club points etc. Bolt ons are better value for money than o2.
Has anyone got any experience of the Tesco network i.e. is it still reliable, does it actually save you money etc.
Any comments appreciated.

Yes its as reliable as O2 itt runs over the same network as them! (A joint operation 50% owned by 02 and 5O% owned by Tesco). Depending on the o2 tariff you are on now,and your usage ,yes it can save you money.Just compare your O2 tariff against the Tesco one to see if it will be cheaper for you.0 -
Simon,
I have been on Tesco for about a year. It is reliable even here in rural Northern Ireland. Its value depends a lot on how many friends you have!! Calls at 10ppm and txts at 5p to three numbers seems as good as you get on PAYG and a flat rate of 20ppm/10p a text on all other numbers/times is fairly competitive as well.0 -

Another tip for Moneysavers using the Tesco Standard service nominate a SF access number as one of your friends eg 07744 97 4116 or 4404 etc This will be charged at 10p a minute as well. This enables you to call any UK 01/02 number,0800.0845and 0870, Intl Destinations using the access number for just 10p a minute.0 -
Hi I use Tesco PAYG and find it fine, clear signal and no problems in the past year or so. I do live near Manchester so the signal should be good in such a built up area, but it's also fine when I go out into the more open spaces.0

Is there a minimum usage policy with Tesco? i.e. so many calls ayear/6 months etc.?0

Thank you very much for your help, it is certainly very reassuring.
I don’t want to go too off topic, but I will certainly be looking into adding an SF access number as one of my ‘friends’
I guess the answer to this question lies somewhere on this forum but is there one that stands out for service and cost?
I’ve heard of cleverates etc but does anyone have a recommendation?
Any help appreciated.
Looking forward to receiving my sim packs now.'If it's not broken, keep fixing it until it is'.0 -
Can someone just run through what an S F number is?..
the way I read it, you dial this number then the number you require, will this work when you are abroad? or have I misread it?

Its a dial through access number like the 0844/0870 ones you see mentioned on this site, but its a mobile access code so Tesco Mobile if you nominate it charge 10p a minute to call it apparently. So when you call it you get a message inviting you to call your final destination number.
Its of no real use from abroad as you would have to pay Intl Roaming rates to Call it.But yes you could call it from abroad and it would work.PF.0 -
Can anyone recommend one which would be good to use with Tesco mobile. or supply a list of good ones to look into.
Just wondering now if my phone will allow me to pick a number from the phonebook and dial it whilst connected to the dial through service. (using a Motorola V620).'If it's not broken, keep fixing it until it is'.0 -
Tesco do call and text 30 day bundles too.
You can make 25 or 50 minutes of calls for just 10p per min.
You can sent 50 or 100 text messages for just 5p each.
