policies4less

What the hell? I phoned them up and they said there was a star next to where it says "Drive any car".
But there obviously isn't.
They shouldn't show a tick if they know you're not old enough to be eligible for it.
I looked through all their policy wordings and it said NOTHING about having to be over 25.

That's a print screen of the options I got after I clicked "Buy now" at moneysupermarket.
As you can see, no star. Only says "When eligible" which is why I looked through all the policies:
https://www.policies4less.co.uk/pdfs...ed_version.pdf
https://www.policies4less.co.uk/pdfs...nce_Policy.pdf

on their site and it doesn't mention a thing.

I'm so angry. I contacted trading standards about this and they advised I write a letter to them.
They shouldn't be able to charge you £60 odd more worth of premium so you can drive any car, then not honour the contract.

Policies4less are shit.

I've moved the thread over to the Insurance board for you. :)

    Thanks!

So anyone know what I should aim for with my letter? A refund or the policy I signed up for.
Really I just want what I paid for.

so what - they allowed you to add on "drive any car" on to the policy for an additional premium but then say you can't because you are not over a given age?
I would ask for a refund on the addition premium (without any admin charges) and ask for an apology and compensation. Sounds like their website has a problem!
If it's an age thing then I wouldn't guess they will budge on covering you for the drive any car, but you could ask for that first and say if they can't honour that then you want the refund on the additional premium etc as per my paragraph above.
Indecision is the key to flexibility :)

Really I want the cover I signed up for. That's the reason I picked them.
And yes, they allowed me to buy cover I was not eligible for.
I think I'm going to ask them to honor what they originally had me pay for. If that doesn't work then I will just ask for a refund of the difference.
If that still doesn't work then I will gladly point out that this thread is about the 4th result on google for "Policies4less"...

It does say "subject to eligibility" for the "drive any cars" thing. Did you not query this? Reading through the published documents isn't the same thing as checking properly. If some part of a policy is central and it has unexplained conditions attached to it then always check these out before purchasing.

I recently purchased house + contents insurance over the internet but had a few queries, I rang up and explained that I was happy to buy but needed my queries answered first, and got the info I needed that way.

    I know that now.
But I went through the section in the PDF labled "Full policy wording" and checked in there, and every other document on their site..
It said nothing about having to be over 25, just a load of stuff about how you're only covered for third party on the other persons car.
It seems logical to me that they would put at least some mention of having to be over 25 somewhere on their site.
I thought that when they said "subject to eligibility" they meant it would only be third party.
I'll write this letter and keep you updated. I'm not sure if I should just cancel now. There's another post about this company on this forum. They seem quite unprofessional.

  • I have been with policies4less for 5 months and despite loads of phone calls I am still waiting for my insurance certificate. I cannot tax or drive my car because of their incompetence. They are hopeless
