Your Credit Rating: How they decide and how you find out for free

P.S. If you believe that you have good credit rating, check you credit files.
Otherwise you can look for more understandg, for example, from Capital One: credit card for no credit history
  • I already have a capital one card and a barclaycard and a bank account with barclays and halifax which are both totally usless

you havn't got a pole about the worst and that would be HALIFAX
If you think nobody cares about you, try missing a couple of payments.
  • There is no point about having a poll about banks! They are all as bad as each other, you might as well have a poll about would you rather be stung by a) a wasp or b) a bee!

  • If you have a Capital One card and a Halifax one why do you need another?

I think they dont trust your ability to pay back, so cut down on the spend. Dont forget the banks and their credit cards tend to be serarate companies. eg I trust Barclaycard but not Barclays Bank.

Everyone has banking problems at some time, whether it is "the computer" or your wanting to bend their rigid rules ( which are always in their favour btw ) or just mis-timing.

IMHO customer relations have got and will get worse, the quality of staff seems strained. You have fall outs but you will still have to have one, and sometimes the devil you know maybe best of a bad bunch.
Strange how not one entry in your poll, tells a story.

I have just left A&L because of mistakes and poor telephone attitude to ppl, and into the Nationwide fire, who dont seem to be able to read print accurately

As grumbler advised check your credit rating.

i have checked my credit file and it seems to be to be o.k, however is there a bank account or credit card that i can get without being credit rated? i have a capital one card and a barclaycard, and a bank account with halifax myself and the other is a joint account with my partner, my partner has a bad credit record and thinking of going backrupt is this going affect my chances of getting anything or do you think it would be a good idea.

i have printed my credit report off, do you think by taking it into a bank they might think different if i faced them? just an idea
  • Halifax have always been great too me. Banked with them for a while and have a Halifax One CC with a 14k limit. CS always been helpful. Infact, so have Barclaycard.

Like another poster, I'm still puzzled as to why you want another credit card?

If it's to repair your credit, you'd do just as well to get the other cards back in order and use them properly
