What is your favourite luxury hand cream please?

Hi,

The only thing my Gran would like for Christmas is some hand cream. I would like to buy her very nice one, but I have no idea which ones are especially good for older skin.

Please can you recommend any?

Thanks,

To be honest I haven't noticed the difference between hand cream for older skin and the ordinary stuff. Might just be my skin, but I doubt it although other people may have a different experience.
In your shoes, I'd go for any expensive one that says it's good for older skin 'cos us women always believe the label as our rows of different moisturisers can testify !

Crabtree & Evelyn's hand cream is expensive but very nice. I think it would be nice to treat your grandmother to a luxury brand that she wouldn't buy for herself.

One of the nicest handcreams - and certainly to give as a gift - is the Jeunesse des Mains by Clarins. I had some as a birthday gift and it's really lovely.

My all time fav hand cream is L'Occitane with shea butter...it smells divine, is rich, comes in a fab silver tube, well worth the money. My hubby pinches it as he has dry skin on his hands - he blames me making him do DIY :rotfl:

    Hope this helps.

LA Source by Crabtree & Evelyn is the beauty industry favourite, Clarins products are great and expensive looking, my all time fav handcream, although not a luxury brand is Soap n Glory hand food, smells beautiful and is really effective.
Thank you for this site Martin
The time for change has come
    Good luck for the future
  • I use pure shea butter and it's fantastic, but I don't like all the chemicals they put in beauty products so I wouldn't use manufactured ones anyway.
I won't buy it if I can make or borrow it instead

I like Liz Earle Hand Repair - it's non-greasy and it smells lovely. There are a couple of Christmas gift sets available at the moment, too - not sure of your budget but you can get this set for £24.75 (the Christmas gift packaging is really gorgeous!)

I haven't tried any of the others people have mentioned - might do so when my current little tube of Hand Repair runs out. I know one of my friends swears by Clarins Jeunesse des Mains.

I'm old enough to be a grandma, and some brands I've heard of like Crabtree and Evelyn, Clarins, Estee Lauder, but if I was given handcream by some manufacturer I'd never heard of I might think it was a cheapie that had been given a posh name to make it seem expensive.
