Pixmania & Parcelforce

Options
Hi

Ordered an item for a Christmas present on 8th Dec from Pixmania, they sent me delivery details the following week ie tracking number for Parcelforce. Followed the saga on PF website, apparently delivered on 15th. Signature is not mine or OH, but the track says it's our surname. Have raised this with both PF and Pixmania, neither of whom have managed to tell me where package is. I know there's been holidays etc, but this has taken ages, and resulted in a missing main present for son, and I'm down £58.

What would you do? Because I'm so fed up with this, I'm just tempted to contact my CC and claim the money off them as I've not received the goods. Or would you wait a bit longer? The last email I sent to Pixmania, said I wanted the goods resent with a different courier. The reply was they were waiting to hear from PF, but PF haven't replied to either my phone call or email, so I hope Pixmania have more luck.

I worked for about 15 years in the courier industry and although it was rare it was not unheard of for dishonest delivery drivers to forge signatures and steal goods. If what you are saying is accurate (bear in mind that Pixmania, PF and your CC company will all have to rule out "another customer trying it on" to get anywhere) then this is probably the most likely cause. I'm sure Parcelforce will be interested in the details as it is to their benefit to have honest employees. Is it possible that a neighbour has signed for it with your name? This too happens from time to time but can be either in good faith - them thinking they are doing you a favour, or with the intention of keeping the goods and hoping no-one finds out. However the amount of time lapsed would rule out the helpful neighbour one.
I would think your best bet is to let Pixmania know the details as it will have to be them that complains to Parcelforce. I'm pretty sure that as a "consignee" they wont take much notice of your complaint. Use the threat of CC claimback to Pixmania and see how they react. If they are slow and dont keep you informed then it maybe best just to claim back anyway. But hopefully within a few days they should be able to get to the bottom of things. But, the answer you are most likeley to get if the package has disappeared is that it was out for delivery with an 'agency driver' and he is no longer with PF !
Either way, whether it has been nicked or not you should really pursue it just to have to moral satisfaction of knowing the person who used your name will have been found out.

Our neighbours are great, PF delivered another parcel of ours to a neighbour the week after the "missing" parcel, and yet again didn't leave a card with us. The on-line tracking said it had been delivered to our name, but again was a different signature. Neighbour bought the parcel around that evening.

The only other option is one of our neighbours has gone away for the winter, and they might have it, won't be back until March, so there's no way to find out if it was left with them, and even if it was, we don't get our goods! If PF had done this and left a card I would be slightly appeased. I think this is unlikely, as the signature doesn't resemble their name, but then that's not always easy, as those electronic pads are pretty hard to sign. So who knows, just wish they'd hurry up and sort it.

If it has been left with a neighbour that has gone away then that shouldn't be your problem. I wouldn't mention this as they may suggest waiting 'til March ! Their 'contract' is to supply you with the goods you have paid for and they havent done that.

Our postman has an extremely annoying habit of signing for parcels in our name and then leaving it in our (external) postbox. Was particularly cross when this happened when we'd paid £18 for our wedding photos to be sent recorded delivery - they could have been rained on or anything. Did complain to post office but didn't get anywhere (except to see it had been "signed" in our name even though neither of us were in). At least we got the goods - is it possible that your postman/delivery driver has a similar habit and then left it outside where it was then stolen?

Well after a considerable amount of leg work by me, I have tracked down my package, and now have it my hot little hands!

Pixmania dragged their heels over this, and I was getting emails from a couple of people in their customer service dept. saying they were awaiting PF's investigation. I also started chasing PF again about this, yet again a promised return call was never received. As my 2 new "friends" at Pixmania had not replied to my emails politely asking for them to resend the goods or refund me, I attempted to ring them (9th Jan). On the 3rd attempt spoke to someone, who after a short while said that PF had told them they had delivered the package, to another house number in my street. At last we were getting somewhere. I went to the house that evening, and low and behold there was my unopened package. Turns out that household had a family crisis just before Christmas, and the package had been forgotten about. They were hugely apologetic, not their fault at all, in my opinion, and told them so. It's ParcelForce, if they had left me a card through the door telling me where it had been left on the 15th December, this whole sorry saga would never have arisen.

I am going to ask Pixmania to refund my delivery costs, as their courier did not deliver the goods to me. I shall give them 5 days to do this, and if they don't I will reclaim the money from my cc company. Does that seem reasonable to you, or should I do more bearing in mind all the time, phone calls and effort I have devoted to this?

I have had problems with Parcelforce... I sent my OH a balloon in a box one day as he was at home ill! No card was left, no-one tried ringing the doorbell and the tracking for it said they had attempted delivery! It ended up back at the depot and was put out for delivery another 3 times... I eventually got it 3 weeks later!

I always check who the courier is before I give my home address, if it's RM or PF I get it sent to my partners work address where it will be signed for!
  • I had an issue with Pixmania; ordered a TFT monitor from them and they sent it via Parcelforce. Of course the ParcelForce tracking system did not actually start tracking till after the parcel had been deliveed, but that's what I expect from them.

The issue was that I had only been sent a European plug, which I could not plug into my UK socket.

On calling them and complaining, they sent me an adapter in the regular post (from Paris) which works, but does not allow the earth wire to be earthed - it only accepts the current carrying wires from the power cable.

I requested that they send me an adapter which will allow my application to be earthed, and they stated that they did not have one. As far as they are concerned that is the end of the story.

My manual categorically states that the monitor should be earthed.

I won't be using Pixmania again!

Have received my delivery costs back from Pixmania, and they have given me a £10 voucher to spend with them, valid for 2 months. Not sure I want to buy from them again, after this last fiasco, and can't think of anything I need from them either, but at least it's a result!

Just hope they wrap PF over the knuckles for not leaving a card, when goods left with a neighbour.
