Part exchange offer on Corsa - fair?
Hi All,
Would really appreciate any advice. I've just been offered £1,500 for my 03 Corsa SXi (1.2, 16v, 3 dr) which is in good condition apart from a couple of small dents from supermarket car parks and a damaged alloy. Full Vauxhall service history. New tyres, brakes etc. but higher than average mileage - 66k.
He reckons he can't offer more because the there's hardly any profit in the Golf I was looking at (which does seem reasonably priced). This is from a VW dealership.
I was disappointed. Should I be?
Thanks in advance
GL

Sell it privatly. look at how much they are going for on aututrader.co.uk and price yours accordingly. you will make more money, but will have the hassle of selling it your self.
good luck0 -
Thanks jscalow....the problem is in the current climate, will it even sell?
I do have a friend who might be interested though so will ask her first!0 -
The VW Dealer isn't even giving you £1500, because he would no doubt give you at least £500 discount for no part exchange, so in reality they are offering you about £1000.
Try another dealer.
You are in the driving seat.0 -
Thanks inactive, that's good advice that I hadn't thought of.
I walked out telling them I was really disappointed and showing very little interest and he said he'd get his boss to give me a call. So i'm going to let them sweat for a bit!0 -
How about offering it to your friend for the bargain PX price, and then you should be able to negotiate a discount with the VW dealer?0

Thanks sarahg - that is sort of my plan! I know my friend's mum wants 5dr really though as they are getting on a bit....!0

Yup - i'm in no hurry (i like my Corsa!) and there seem to be plenty of cars out there. Also I imagine things will only get more desperate for dealers after Christmas when everyone is skint!0
