CHRISTMAS SAVER Issue 3:
https://www.skipton.co.uk/savings_and_investments/pdfs/investmentTCS.pdf
a regular savings account maturing 24.11.09 with a minimum investment of £10 per month (maximum £250 per month) paying 6.55% on maturity.
Payments can be amended each month within minimum and maximum monthly amounts although consecutive payments must be made.
Earlier access on closure only.
On maturity transfers to Instant Access account. Contributions by cash/cheque/transfer or standing order.
27 Oct 2008
It is good to see Skipton BS relaunching the successful Christmas Saver product to the market again this year and maintaining a competitive rate of 6.55%. This product is designed especially for Christmas spending, as it matures on 24.11.09, when clients can have access to funds.
Earlier access is on closure only so clients have to commit to the product, which is a usual feature of a regular savings account..

I have spoken to them this morning and they confirmed a new Christmas Saver will be coming out. However they said details not available yet.
The links given above refer to the current Christmas Saver which matures 24th November 2008.

Thanks, I already have Xmas saver issue 2 and 3 x special savers and I was just wondering if the new issue 3 is fixed rate.0

The account will be launched on Monday 3rd November.Dagobert0

Variable - the rate is the same as the rate applying the to existing Christmas Saver 2 accounts from 3NOV08.
Its interesting that they have only passed on 0.25% of the base rate cut on Christmas Saver but the full 0.5% cut on some other variable rate accounts - I wasn't going to bother going to the trouble of opening a Christmas Saver 3 but at 6.55% variable I may stick with it, but I will be underwhelmed if future rate cuts exceed BBR cuts to claw back this generosity.0 -
By the way, the Special and Xmas regular savers can be closed early without impacting on the interest rate. Funds can be moved out to their Online Access Account, from where they can be withdrawn by BACS to any destination.Dagobert0

The Skipton Christmas/special savers are the most flexible around - anything from £10 to £250 anytime in a month and if you do close early there's no interest rate penalty. They also accept faster payments. But those who don't need the flexibility are better off grabbing the 7% plus fixed that is available on regular savers elsewhere. Also Skipton is very flexible during the one year term but then the money goes into a poor account and you can only withdraw by cheque or £250 per day cash. I'm not going to bother with a new Christmas saver as the rate will soon be lower than my EGG 6.3% fixed which is even more flexible.0
