Useless energy saving light bulbs!
Options
Does anybody else find these "free " energy bulbs a waste of time? I have recently received 2 boxes (8 bulbs) from n power, but try as I might I just can't get them to fit!!
They are either too tall and won't fit the lamp housings, fit but look stupid , or fit and give out poor light!!!
No wonder they're free!!

Well I am writing in praise of these wonderful freebies. I was sent several free bulbs and have used one in my back hall - its really bright and actually gives out a better light than the old fashioned bulb that used to be in it (it blew about 2 weeks ago so I had to resort to using a wind up torch to navigate by at night - had to wait for my chap to visit to change the bulb).0

Can't knock 'em because they are free but they are a pain in the neck when you have to deliver them to every single house. LoL:rotfl:0

With regards to them giving out poor light. Energy saving lights take up to a minute to warm up to full light level which is probabily why your seeing poor light levels. You can get different styles of lights which may look better (spirals etc) though some are more expensive than the others (spirals which might fit/look better in a lampshade are currently 4 for 6 quid or something like that in B&Q)Money, Money, Money ..... Banks/Casinos/Bookies give me all you money its a poor mans world....0

The wattage is important too. I've had the 9w and 11w light bulbs which were too dim. The 20w bulbs are the best for my needs.0

No comment on design or utility but the free bulbs are probably a greenwash scam by the utility companies. They'll get brownie points for sending them out regardless of whether or not they are used.0
