Hi, as from tomorrow(Monday 13/10/08) the price crunch offers are on again in morrisons, this week it is geared up to a sunday roast lunch, you get 5 items for £4, the items are as follows:-
1) whole chicken about 1.3kg (meat aisle)(£2.50)
2) morrisons carrots(produce) (40p)
3) birds eye peas (frozen) (40p)
4) mcain home roast potatoes (frozen) (40p)
5) 4 pack of yorkshire puddings (fresh) (30p)
The prices may be a bit ought on individual items, but i do know the chicken is £2.50, the carrots are 40p, and it all comes to £4 so the others cant be far out, i will correct each individual item as i find out the price, in my opinion this is the best offer they have come up with yet, maybe not in how much you save, but how popular it will be, how else could you you have a family meal for £4, HTH Dave

Blimey, that's a great deal - a roast dinner for the family for £4.
I have to say, I'm loving this so-called credit crunch. The only thing with this deal is that I would never do a roast dinner with frozen roasties, it's gotta be ones done from scratch for me. (I don't mind the yorkshire puddings though, the frozen ones are excellent).0 -

LOL - mint sauce is supposed to go with LAMB!!
I always make gravy using the meat juices too, much tastier that way, usually put a nice big slug of red wine into the mix too.
I must admit, since trying the Tesco finest free range corn-fed chicken a couple of weeks back, I have to say the taste is so much better that you can't compare a battery chook with one of them. The whole texture of the meat is completely different, less watery. But having said that, if you're on a tight budget, the cheapie chooks are definitely the way to go to feed a hungry family.0 -
Did well on the peas today...it pays to be nice! Saw the sign over the frozen peas so picked up a bag, went thru checkout, checked bill, £1.56, went to customer service, and nicely said I thought they were 40p, girl went and checked, came back with 2 small bags, apologised(???) as the sign was bigger than the display area in the freezer, gave me the 2 bags and gave me a refund of £1.16, so I got a bag free(yeah!)
It all helps these days, and the carrots are ok too0 -

mint sauce is the food of the DEVIL!! even with lamb it's vile, unless it's homemade - however, each to his own lol. Horseradish or mustard is essential with beef though. I love it so much that I usually end up with eyes watering and me sneezing - the family find it a source of constant amusement.0 -
I don't think this deals is as goods as it first looks, not as good as the previous price crunch offers anyway.
Same size chicken is £1.99 in tesco.
1Kg Carrots 45p
800g Birdseye peas (twice the size) £1
So the only real bargain is the homeroasts.Next year we'll be millionaires!0 -
Don't knock it, we need all the supermarkets to be running good deals; from work I can walk to Morrisons, I have to drive to Tescos!0

Its not really the individual prices that make it the good deal - its the whole idea of being able to provide a family meal for £4 - tescos may have a chicken for £1.99, 1kg of carrots for 45p, and peas for £1 - but can you get the roast potatoes and yorkshires in tescos for 56p to make it a complete dinner for a family for £4?
Personally I think these offers are great - and with this particular offer - it can all go in the freezer - so you could stock up while the offer is on! - if you have the space to haha0
