Mobileshop.com alternative cashback offer
Got a call from Mobileshop today offering to pay me £220 cheque in full and final payment instead of claiming 4 x £90 over the next 9 months left on my contract. Obviously I will be loosing out on £140 if I did claim all 4 x £90 but £220 cheque will be written & sent out immediately.
I was dubious to start with but it means not having to bother with remembering to send in 4 lots of bills over the next 9 months so I'm partially tempted.
Anyone else had this offer?
John

i would hold out for the 1st deal u was meant too get,.. because thats what would of made me sign for the deal in the 1st place.. a saving of X amount but by taking this chque the savings dropped to Y amount no thanks,.. i wouldnt want to pay 140£ xtra,..
but thats just what i would do,.. i dont hold a contract with them,..
unless u think u wont get the other 90£ payments ?then thats a different matter.0 -
A most interesting but worrying development. Let's hope that it does not herald another Forward Cellular incident. Any other recipients of this call ought to refuse the offer at this scale of loss, unless of course it proves to pressage an impending downfall...in which case you should bite their hand off.0

Yep, thought that too thefirs!
Of course I don't want to take a loss but at the back of my mind "is something better than potentially nothing"?
Could all be totally innocent of course and they are just giving their customers different options in the run up to Christmas like the bloke told me.
Mobileshop would be gaining £140 for everyone who says yes, so not a bad earner for them.0 -
But it would be you could downgrade your contract, if thats what you were planning on doing. Otherwise you would have to stick with your current tarriff for the whole duration.0

Would paying out more now help to stave of an impending problem - doesn't sound like it too me - however I would say that identifying almost certain claimants and getting them to accept less would make business sense - heres hoping as they owe me 300 quidI think....0

I had a similar experience, but instead of money, I was offered a PAYG phone. I obviously said no, because I'd no doubt find the phone cheaper elsewhere! :rotfl:
I would hope they don't go out of business, they have been around for ages, I had a contract with them about 6 years ago.
:T** Mobile Phones.... I'm here to help **0 -
Yep somehow I reckon they work out who is most likely to claim and offer them this deal. They only make money on these deals when people forget and that's what they rely on - so it doesn't make sense that they would offer this to everyone...0

if your going to tak the cashback downgrade as soon as you got it
at least that way you get your own back
