Get rid of Norton?

Options
I've been running Norton Internet Security and AV for a couple of years now and have just about come to the end of my tether with it. I find it really slow, unresponsive, blocks what I want to do, and really impractical.

Have been scouring the web for replacements, and it seems like ZoneAlarm Firewall and AVG Anti-Virus are going to be more than adequate replacements

Anyone got any thoughts?

Kerio Personal Firewall is nice and light. It's free too. Personally, I prefer it to ZoneAlarm.

Nod32 is one of the better av apps out there, and one of the lightest. It costs about £25 though, but is very good. Very much the gamer's or enthusiast's choice.

AVG is a good free av alternative and easily adequate enough for the average user.

  • I recently ditched Norton and began using AVG Free Edition and can only echo previous postings regarding a jump in overall PC performance.

if you get rid of norton you have to be abit careful the cheeky program wouldnt clean uninstall from my pc and i had to search the norton website for instruction on removing some offending files that refused to leave my pc quietly.

Yep....the tool to rid your PC of EVERYTHING Norton is SymNRT. It's here.........

I, too, have found the AVG/ZA combination works well together.

[By the way Kerio is also going to die by the end of December.]

I also got rid of Norton, opting for AVG and Sygate firewell, both free systems.

Also noticed a good improvement in performance.

    Good luck

Hi Libra10...Sygate is now dead as a firewall. It's been pulled from the marketplace. Suggest you use something else now.
