Upgrade path after a Nokia 6120C
Both of my contracts are up in 1 month. The phone on one of them is being retained (Nokia 6500 Slide) and so only one new phone is required.
I like the feel and build quality of the 6500 Slide and other more weighty phones and also like the idea of many of the new touch screen phones but am not sure if they are really practical. As far as they go, both the Samsung Omnia and HTC Touch Diamond seem to have pros and cons and the most favourable reviews I've read about a touch screen phone has been about the Samsung Tocco.
My last decent phone was a Nokia 6120C and I liked the Symbian OS on that (very nice) but the screen was a bit small for web browsing (which is important to me). The Nokia 6220 would be the (obvious?) upgrade but it feels really plasticy and cheap.
A half decent camera would be nice (bit not essential) but music/video is definately not top of my requirments. I've read that the upcoming Nokia Tube is likely to be a beauty but will probably be a bit rich for my pocket.
Too much choice...
.
Thanks for any advice and/or recommendations.

If you want a big screen and can hang around, the HTC Touch HD is what you'd be after.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -
Thanks for that, it looks stunning.
I've managed to whittle things down to what I require:- Smartphone
- Large-ish screen for browsing
- Stylish and understated

Sorry, I have no experience of any of those, I'm either going to get a Touch HD or a Touch Pro (smaller screen but a keyboard).
The O2 XDA Orbit 2 is made by HTC, it's been around for a while now though, the Pro and HD are just coming out...
Many people don't like Windows Mobile, but I do and love how those on XDA-developers quickly improve the performance of the stock Operating Systems with their own.

I did have a look at the Touch Pro when I was on the HTC site because although I'm not a massive texter, one of the things that puts me off touch screen only phones is the lack of a proper keypad - guess that's the O2 XDA Orbit 2 discounted then.;)
The first thing I normally do with a new phone is put the latest manufacturer's firmware on so I'll keep an eye on XDA-developers if I decide to go down the HTC route.

Still considering the HTC Touch Pro (believe it's going to be called Crystal on O2) but if that's only available on the expensive (> £25) tariffs) what's the next best alternative phone (newly released or released within the last year)?

Thanks.
I believe the TP will be called the XDA Serra (it's on O2's site under business phones, but not yet available).
Judging by how much you can get a Sony Ericson Xperia X1 for (you'll have to pay a lot for the phone to get it for £25 a month) http://!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!/o2-sony-ericsson-xperia-x1-2.html, you'll not be happy with the Touch Pro. (that's www dot mobiles dot co dot uk)
However, I wouldn't consider anything else than these two.Toyota - 'Always a better way', avoid buying Toyota.0 -
