"I'm my biggest fan".
Taking self belief to new levels maybe.

I'm the second biggest fan:
How come the opinion polls say different?
But the Work and Pensions Secretary, James Purnell, said he believed the country is still behind the prime minister.
"I've been talking to people in my constituency and they're saying quite clearly, at a time when they're worried about the economy, if they've got a choice between Gordon Brown and David Cameron, about who can manage the economy better, they know whose side they're on. "They're on Gordon Brown's side, because he's got the experience over ten years of being able to run the economy in a way which the Conservatives have never been able to match," Mr Purnell said.

I can see all the current negative economic indicators turning round just in time for the next election, 5 more years what a nightmare.'Just think for a moment what a prospect that is. A single market without barriers visible or invisible giving you direct and unhindered access to the purchasing power of over 300 million of the worlds wealthiest and most prosperous people' Margaret Thatcher0 -
I think an irreversible change in sentiment has occured and believe that we'll be well into a downturn when the election comes round.Happy chappy0

I reckon that the conservative & lib leaders are both on Labours payroll.
They are doing a terrible job of representing themselves as a viable alternative to this ditherer.

"have your say" is suitably ripping it to bits:

I cannot believe he would go on record saying how well he's done. It's hard to think of a more arrogant and 'up yourself' attitude!
Mis-management of recent years (ie when he was chancellor) has been a contributing factor to the problems of today. Don't get too smug Gordon ... it's early days in this and I don't think you'll be here to witness the end*.
* meant as 'not in Government', not 'taken out by a hitman' !0 -
I think it's psychotic self belief that appears as arrogance.

Interesting to see the opinions on the Guardian website. What chances we get to a hundred posted replies before we reach one that's positive? Anyone beg to differ?Ok Mr Brown, just how are you going to help the needs of these 'British People' ? We've employed up to 30 people over 35 years... and now we're bust ( because construction is one of the first things to go down the toilet|). Availability of benefits......... nil, because we have had the temerity to be self employed and to have never relied on the state. We have a mortgage, so we have no discernible help, unlike people who rent. Thing is, you're happy to throw money at people who have never worked but there is no help for the "hard-working" people - the epithet you are so happy to mouthe in interview after interview. The "hard-working families" of this country are the very ones your government have destroyed. But you know that... your client state of underclass benefit claiming unemployed are happy with your government, as are the employees of the hundreds of overpaid quangos and outreach co-ordinators guarding the rights of everyone but the indigenous people of this country.Happy chappy0 -
And what is Mr. Brown's response to this gigantic f@ck up, which in no small way he is responsible for? Why to write an article in the Guardian newspaper BOASTING about what a competent economic manager he is. You could admire the chutzpa only I suspect he actually means it!
It does cheer me up reading the "have your say" responses on web sites. In days of higher growth we reduced the national debt to give us the flexibility to increase borrowing in these hard times.LOL Broon. How come then that the EC has given you a deadline of Jan 2009 latest to get back within the Maastricht limits on public borrowing Who do you think you are trying to kid? Most readers of the Guardian will be aware that during the debt ramped years of growth you were borrowing to pay the wages .
...and I willDo we hear of a collapse in the housing market or a financial meltdown in France or Germany - epitomes of the much-despised European social model - or in Japan? No. The tens of thousands of job losses and the further tightening of the credit crunch which will now follow the collapse of Lehmans can be laid squarely at the door of Gordon Brown and his disgraceful policies. He should resign now - although even that won't prevent the total wipeout of New Labour, which I (as a former Labour party member) hope to see at the next election.

I find this interesting, I have similar thoughts. He's displaying all the signs of paranoid psychosis IMHO. Denial of reality, delusions of grandeur, psychopathic hatred of his persecutors.Happy chappy0

Oh, it's clearly my day for ranting, but you guys keep posting these links to stuff.
It's easy to hate Brown, and previously Blair - but behind them are hundreds of MP's, without a single backbone between them. Did they back the Iraq invasion, did they vote to scrap the 10p tax rate? Oh yes indeed. Reading that report of the conference, and how they stand and applaud their rubbish leader, and by inference themselves - it is puke making.
I don't suppose anyone will speak out of turn, after that 82 year old guy dared to speak something that normal people were thinking. To borrow from one of our very own posters - they are VILE!!!!
I could go on for several pages, but I will spare you. Just feel my anger.0
