Hoorah

I've agreed with my publisher that there is going to be an MSE Old Style book, based on your contributions here. All my proceeds from the book are going to go to the MoneySaving kids charity.

I think its great that the wisdom on here will be dispersed to a wider audience, and i can't thank you enough for the amazing contributions.

MSE Sue

You'll start to see MSE Sue in here. Sue is a journalist who has been hired to put together, format, arrange and collate the new book. Yet the body of info comes from you. Sue isn't a main member of the MSE team, she's devoted just to this project - which is great.

From time to time Sue may ask for thoughts on specific subjects if there's gaps and we'd love your views, I hope you will co-operate.

I'm really excited about the new book - i hope you will be too, and proud of the huge (enormous, couldnt do it without you) contribution you've already made and will make with new posts

Martin :)

  • Will we get mentions in the book if one of our tips are used?
  • Martin... I meant to ask you for a long time: do you have a job for me? Not kidding, I hate mine and I love saving money and I have an International Business degree...

Can I be in the photo with the homemade pizza?

Can't wait for the book to be published! Will you have a great launch party with champagne and will we all be invited?

    WELL DONE!!!

Martin will probably expect us to make the champagne from a few elderberries and we can have HM crisps and dips to go with it! :D
Great idea, though - a sure best seller!

......and if anyone's good at pottery, they can make the bowls for the dips;)

Whilst I think it would be great to be recognised in the book somewhere (I'm all for my 15 minutes, erm, seconds of fame :D) there could be problems with crediting one particular person to a specific tip. I know that some people mention something, then later on, another member asks a question or for a recipe and some else mentions the same tip, thereafter getting all the credit. I have seen this happen to members (including myself) and I know that I have given 'advice' which I in turn have gleaned from this site. Also, some of the recipes are in fact taken to a greater or lesser degree, from a published recipe book.

However, I think it may be 'slow cookers at dawn', to get on the cover :rotfl:

Well done, in advance, Martin and team. Looking forward to it.

What a wonderful idea. I'm really looking forward to reading the book - I'll buy it from Amazon using the free vouchers that I've gradually saved up after reading posts elsewhere on this site!

You do realise, of course, that in the same way that Delia's book caused a national shortage of cranberries a few years ago, your book is going to cause a national shortage of slow cookers, white vinegar and bicarb. Guess we'll have to get our stocks in early........

    Hi folks

Glad for the enthusiam, though i thought i'd temper it a little. The book won't be out for at least a year.... these things take a long time.

As for crediting, we're working out how to do that. The book is a book, so it wont be written like threads, therefore its impossible to credit people with individual tips. What i hope it to have a big thank you page to everyone who has contributed and also pull out a few specific examples of tales in the book and those will be credited
