1st viewing, what do i say?

Hi,

so 1st viewing on monday and hubby and i cant decide on what to say if we are asked "why are you moving?"
my honest answer is we need a garage and a bigger house with side access to the back garden, but i know that would put people off so i wont say that.
what do you think we should say?
hubby wants to say that the only way to afford a bigger house is to buy do-uppers and sell them on , but to me it sounds like we are propery delvelopers which we are not, lived here for 6 years and only moving for above reasons .

many thanks for your advice in advance

Your explanation is fine, but what about 'hubby has a new job and needs to move' (assuming you'll not bump into them!)

So long as your reason is not negative, like neighbours are awful, then buyers don't really take much notice......
  • I'd tell the truth. They notice that it doesn't have a garage anyway.

Bigger house. Don't say any more. Although if you do tell the potential buyer that yours has no garage nor side access, if they don't know already then they might be more trouble than they are worth as buyers.

I worried about this too, I need a bigger house but read somwhere that you should not say that as it may be negative.

I came up with, we are moving in together so want to make a fresh start, and My mum is retiring soon and I want to be closer to her.

  • Your reason is good enough
    Owing on CC £00.00 :j

It's like shooting nerds in a barrel
  • I would say just want to be closer to my family, Mum, etc. If you say you need a bigger house, it may get them thinking that they need a garage or larger property - especially if potential buyers family is the same size as yours.

I went for a viewing and sellers said they needed more space, as I looked around I realised I had more stuff then they did!

Can't see what's wrong with saying you're moving to a bigger house. Most people would if they could afford it :)
  • i would say its none of their business, unless the house is being chased by a few buyers, then brown nose all the way!
