Upgrade to All Inclusive or not? (First Choice)

Basically it's £335 for SC or there's a similar hotel for £433 all inclusive. Apparently their all inclusive also includes alcohol.
There's three of us going - one eats anything, one veggie and one on a fairly strict diet. But is the extra £98 still worth it for the alcohol cover?

I'd say yes. Also for the unlimited free soft drinks. And buffet style/unlimited food I found better as a veggie with allergies as I can pick and choose the bits I can/will eat without having to worry about cost.
Make a list of important things to do today. At the top, put 'eat chocolate'. Now, you'll get at least one thing done today.

Yes. You'd spend way more that £98 on food and alcohol! This is not a signature.... or is it?Clydesdale loan £955 £174.42 saved. £780.58 to go.0

where are you going Gemmz? What are the reviews on all inclusive - check out Trip Advisor etc for thoughts onthe food to find out if there is lots of variety or not. Sometimes the kind of included drinks are restricted to local spirits etc so check out whether it is drinks you like . We stayed at a hotel half board which was also all inclusive - I would have been sick to the back teeth of the place, however much we liked staying there, I wouldn't have wanted to be in the same bar every night, even half board got a bit boring eating wise after 4 or 5 nights. After midnight, the staff went and it was just left to the residents so if anyone was half board, nobody knew if they had a drink or two!
It also kind of ties you to the hotel - you'd feel you were 'wasting' money if you wanted to go out instead of staying at the hotel - would you be happy staying there every night?
What are the local bar prices? Again do a quick read up on the bars and restaurants near by. They often say how much drinks cost etc and you can do a quick tot up of how much you normally drink and compare.

From what I've seen on holidays-uncovered.com, the cheaper all inclusives get lots of awful comments mainly due to the food.
What's the destination? Is it somewhere cheap? If so then you can always eat out in the evenings. Thankfully most hotels manage to get the breakfasts right!
I'd go for the All-Inc - just for the booze and breakfast!0 -
I agree with the previous 3 posts. You don't say for how long you are going for though. Even if you are going for a week, £98 works out as £4.71 each per day. That's about 2 drinks each per day! I'm sure you will drink much more than that. Also consider the benefits of not having to carry your money about with you in the hotel and having to hide it away every time you go into the pool.0

Sorry, it's a week in Tenerife. We figured it'd probably be worth it just for water and a couple of drinks even if we go and eat elsewhere a couple of nightsNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130

I would read up on the reviews for the hotel Gemmz and see what others say who have been there.

Yes, Yes & Yes again.
Not only will it work out cheaper but you don't have to carry money around or get hit with a huge bar tab at the end of your stay when you've already spent all your spending money. Some days you're the dog..... most days you're the tree!

It's pretty mixed, it used to be called something else a couple of years ago so that could be why.
It's just outside Playa Las AmericasNo longer using this account for new posts from 20130
