PC Dummy. Problem with Zone Alarm

Hoping someone has the time to explain! I download most things recommended on this board (free ones) and have been using Zone alarm for sometime, then I couldn't get updates, so downloaded the pro for 15days now this has stopped. Is there anyway I can get the free one back.

Also I would like to do Internet shopping( I have done it a few times ) But I am always scared about my credit card details. There has been a lot of talk on TV about cc fraud, Is there anything I can do to be protected from this.
Please tell me even if it is common sense, I don't know if what I have will help. I have (but don't always use) AVG7,
Ewido (this won't update either)
mozilla(don't know what this is)
C cleaner
Pervx home
spyware blaster
spybot
Told you I collected them
Any help on either matter appreciated.

Thanks

Shelly

    http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1 AVG Free
    http://smb.sygate.com/products/spf_standard.htm Sygate Firewall
    http://www.lavasoftusa.com/software/adaware/ Free Adware removal

All im saying is this is my setup with all free stuff, I would Download the above
and then go offline then Uninstall what isnt working via add/remove programs in Control Panel or what you dont need/want and then install the above..

As I say this is what I would do as Ive never had an issue with this combination and all are free.......

I can't help you much with your questions on security - but there's a recent thread which links to all the old ZA versions that you can download:-

Gotta say i totally agree with mr Skint, i have the exact same setup n have had no probs at all, AVG is absolutely brill ,does what it says on the tin, does not slow down pc n sygate firewall is another one that just does it's job, no frills package that's pretty easy to use.

yup, mr skint has hit the nail on the head with this one.

too many protections can wipe each other out, they conflict, i used to have 3 or 4 different firewalls, 3 anti virus and 4 spy/adaware clones. always had probs.

i now just use avg, sygate, adaware. no problems, no virus, no crashes.

sometimes all these all singing and all dancing proggies confuse the issue.

Sorry to ask this but adware has just finished a scan and said I have Alexa (4 objects found) Possible Browser Hijacker attempt (2 objects) and Tracking Cookie (1 object). It doesn't advise me what I should be doing with them. do I just delete them and are they anything to worry about.

    Thanks

Tick all objects then right click delete or next... If you have the latest Adware it will delete them by putting a tick in then next then confirm deletion.
