Agadir Morrocco

Hi
I am looking at going to Agadir in Morrocco in late jan/early Feb for a week. Best price on the flight is about £400 each. Anyone know of a cheaper way that doesn't involve camel travel, stopovers in Vladivostok etc.
Also, any advice on what to do would be appreciated
Thanks
Gerret

Just had a look on Airtours http://www.mytravel.com/ - from Manchester 05/02/06, plenty of hols going for less than £400 (limited choice of UK airports though).

Agadir is very much a holiday resort. Lots of hotels, villas - much more of an Euro feel rather than a North African destination. Hotels sometimes hold 'Morrocan'-themed nights with snake-charmers, belly-dancing, etc. The public beach was full of local children, all very curious at seeing foreigners.

If you have time, spend a few days in Marrakesh instead. The Djemaa el-Fna market is legendary!

Wasn't that keen on Marrakesh - traffic fumes were pretty bad (stayed just across the road from the market). Went to Agadir a couple of years ago and had part of one week 'on the road' - did a round trip by bus to Essouira, then Marrakesh and back to Agadir. Buses were good with 'tea breaks' in rural towns - helps if you speak a bit of French (or Arabic..). Essouira was pretty good, really just a smaller, less commercialised version of Agadir - 'main drag' between the port and old town great for people-watching.

Yep, Essaouira was great too. A real 60s haunt, still has plenty of 'art-school' influences dotted about now. Orson Welles' fans will know it as the location for 'Othello'. Don't think the Cafe des Artistes is still around - I'm sure I saw it 'done up' and shown as a potential house to buy on the TV programme "A Place in the Sun"! But lots of other places of interest. The market is almost medieval!!

Great place to windsurf and try your hand at spearfishing (...no, I didn't get any fish and wouldn't know what to do even if I did!!). Lots of thuya wood/root and marquetry handicrafts are made locally if that's your thing.

Try the BBQ fish on the seafront!!

I went to agadir for a week and I got bored of it after 1 day.
Went to an office of supratours and booked a bus to marrakesh for a tenner return.
Went to an internet cafe and booked ibis hotel in marrakesh for 25 quid per night for 3 nights, supratours drops you off at the train station and ibis is literally next door to the station.
There we go - problem solved:D

But yeah, morocco was a great place overall.
