......... bearing in mind the old adage "Time is money" and the good old fashioned method of "delegation" ... (chores) ... blah blah blah ....
... my d11yo, being at his *most* helpful, decided to do the washing up.
I had used the food processor to make some most delicious Carrot Soup for lunch and to prep the ingredients for a bung-in-the-oven for fuel economy Casserole and was planning on making up several other items using aforementioned food processor (cakes for the week, some HM coleslaw, some odds and bobs for the freezer ....
... being a diligent worker ... d11yo washed up the food processor bowl, lid and .... MOTOR UNIT!!!!
He has had his very first lesson in which week of the month it is best *not* to bath the food processor when a female in the vacinity is relying on it to not only bake ahead/freeze ahead, but also was feeling rather dependant on it for making tonights main meal
It's now a toss up between Kenwoods and Phillips (Argos) both the same price ... except dh has just got up and said Argos is shut on a Sunday! :silenced:
Dh being a "man of the world" (polite for scaredy-cat-wimp) has now raced out of the house to find a) a shop open b) one which sells food processors and c) something that may/might/possibly placate the only female member of the household who is mourning the loss of her wedding gift from the Outlaws X yrs ago.
He has taken the mini-menfolk with him under the battle cry of: "Quick! RUN!!!" although I'm pretty sure that was man-speak for "would you care to come with me lads?" They have evacuated via the driveway to the subtle sounds of: "Wattage; capacity; size matters!" melodiously fluttering in their ears.
Who has a food processor? Which type do you have? How long has it lasted? If you upgraded, which would you choose? Which aspectss are the most important? How much would you be prepared to pay?

Magimix every time for me but I even managed to blow one of those up!
I switched to a Kenwood but it was false economy in terms of reliability and power and now languishes in the cupboard while my new Magimix sits proudly on the worktop.0 -
I still have my old trusted Kenwood (FP346) although I should imagine that's long since become extinct
If I were ever to replace that then I'd definitely go for the Magimix (a mid-sized one - 3 or 4 something series?) based on the excellent reports I've seen and heard about it
Edit: I can't remember what I paid for the Kenwood as it's so long since I bought it, but I think it was a mid-range one of whatever was around at the time and has the additional slicing plates etc but no attachments. The Magimix I was looking at was around £125 and had a mini bowl attachment that sits inside the bigger one, as well as the usual variety of blades etc, if that's any help!"An Ye Harm None, Do What Ye Will"

Definately Magimix. I've had several others over the years (including Kenwood) and they have all failed to come up to the durability of the Magimix. I know it's a lot more expensive - but not really when you think of replacing lesser ones. Mine comes with 3 different size bowls which is really useful. I like to make my own tartare sauce and it's so easy to just use the smallest bowl.
Hope they come home with what you want!0 -

My old and trusty kenwood processor (not to be confussed with my beloved kenwood classic mixer) gave up the ghost about 3yrs ago and I have never go round to replacing it. IMO mixers out perform processors for mixing/kneeding/whipping and the only thing I used mine for was bulk grating and chopping. I now use an old fashioned grater and have biceps like Popeye;)Life's a beach! Take your shoes off and feel the sand between your toes.0

Mines a Kenwood (not chef) and is the 2nd one I've had.The first lasted 10 years. If you need spares for a Kenwood, you can send for them from the company and it is much cheaper than ordering them via a shop.
I bought mine in TJ Hughes and it came with a juicer thingy for citrus fruits,a liquid canopy to stop the liquid coming out when full, slicing and chipping blades and grater blade, whisk and liquidiser.I'd definitely get another.0 -
I have a Tefal Kaleo Magibox - it is absolutely rubbbish!! It never chops things properly, leaves huge chunks at the end when I ask it to grate anything and although it is supposed to be a blender too I have had to buy a separate one.
It's a good job it was a competition prize or I would be asking for my money back.Organised people are just too lazy to look for things

I also had a Kenwood processor which I only junked when I could no longer get the spares for it, I won ity as a prize at catering college, I then bought a magimix which was superb, but I sold it just this year because I was not using it, for grating I use a the grater and a hand whisk for anything else...........
My deepest sympathies to Queenie, had it been me they would have run before I realised what had happened!!!!!!
