    Sarah,
Without a receipt(which they tended not to isuue) the only possible way would be to request to see the original application. Mine got sent back due to them loosing my cheque and it was date stamped by the glasgow office- though that might not be date of receipt but 'process'. Don't know how likely it is they'll let you get a copy....

Thanx, altho after reading the contents of this thread, I am very tempted to call and cancel the application! It all seems a bit disorganised to me! Will have to wait and see what happens.....

    Thanx

My ISA is finally open - according to Barclays on-line banking; no communication from them so no idea whether they've backdated the interest or not. Have been credited with £13-odd interest as of today.

Paperwork arrived today. Shows "Date Opened: 5th April". Applic was sent on 28th March. I guess that's as close as we're gonna get

My account was finally opened this afternoon. £1 was transferred from my Barclays current account as requested. I will visit my local branch tomorrow, to transfer £2,999 from my Barclays e-Savings account to the ISA. Will they be able to do this for me, or do I have to transfer the money to my current account before visiting the branch?

    Thanks,

    Rob

Hi SalsaDanca, you will need to transfer the money to your current account first, as Barclays e-Savings account is only manageable online - the branches will not transfer money into or out of it. From your current account you will be able to do an instant transfer (this information comes from Compound on this forum) but I do not know whether you do this with a normal cashier, or whether you have to see a personal banker? Could anyone confirm this?

    Hope this helps.

After applying by online and sending the form in the post in March as an existing customer, I got a telephone call from someone at a Barclays branch saying they were ever so sorry, they had forgotten to take a copy of my ID when I went in to apply for the account, so could I pop down with my driving licence/passport. My application had been returned to the branch for verification, and it's not even my branch. I've heard nothing since then, but I will hear a result from my complaint by May 22nd!!

They have finally opened my account - only a month after I handed the forms in. I didn't get a letter or anything through the post - I just happened to check my account and there it was.

Sounds good (ish) so far, doesn't it? But....no accrued interest.

Rang up their helpline, 0800 282 390, and spoke to a helpful guy in the retail banking team. He checked with his colleagues in the ISA team and they told him the interest would be credited at the year end. I told him that interest was supposed to be paid monthly, accoridng to

    http://www.barclays.co.uk/isa/

He said that although the interest was calculated monthly, it was credited annually. Sound a bit far fecthed to me - is this what the other MoneySavers have found?

At any rate, he gave me a reference number and his name which I can use to contact him if I want to call again.

    Will this saga never end???

According to the website, it's paid monthly...

Someone obviously doesn't know what they're talking about..... all a bit worrying really!

Visited branch yesterday to add to ISA you cannot add inbranch either by completing a paying in slip or by speaking to a personal banker, as no credits can be sent to the ISA by branch.... but they have a form to complete which they faxed to the ISA department... the cash has been transfered from current account to ISA today.
