you dont get two free months .. they calculate the bill over the yr and then they divide it by 10months and you get your monthly bills.. its in there best interests to not chase payments march as end of tax yr and april beginning of new tax yr.. so although you dont pay in those months you dont get them for free... oh if onlyThose we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,

On checking the NAV of my property and neighbours on the link above, I was surprised to find that the NAV of the property next door to me which is a much bigger house on a larger plot is about a third less than mine! What can I do about this?0

Got my rates bill on Monday. I find it hard to believe the difference between paying rates in Cityside Derry and Waterside Derry - Waterside is almost twice as expensive. I paid £32 a month on a 3 bedroom terraced house on the Cityside, now over £60 on a mid-townhouse with a small garden and nothing out front.
I'm expecting to find alloy wheels on my black and blue bins when I get home this evening - not the remnants of what looked like chicken curry and rice down the front of my bin after it was collected on Monday!!0 -
Got mine yesterday also - north down area
I normally paid by rates swipe card at PO every month ie 10 payments.
Can anyone tell me if I change to DD do they take 12 smaller payments for the year or still only 10 payments April to Jan.
thanks in advance:j0 -

Complete one of these but be warned when the VLA do a re-inspection they may decide to raise (not lower) your Valuation.

my neighbours and myself both have extentions on the back of our houses but i built mine whilst i lived here my neighbours moved in after the extention was built.. therefore there house is classed a bigger property but mine isnt.. it will be when i sell it so there rates are more than mine..Those we love don't go away,They walk beside us every day,Unseen, unheard, but always near,

I think my sums are wrong, The NAV is £167.00, the poundage is 144.57. If i multiply those i get £24,143, which sounds a bit high!! If i multiply 167 x 1.44 i get £240, does that sound closer? I notice from the first link that it mentions an outhouse on the property but not the double garage, that's not good is it?0

144.57 is the Domestic District Rate Poundage
You are looking for the Domestic Rate Poundage (last column)
NAV (167) X 3.1110 = £519 currently
Outhouse can be a shed, garage, greenhouse, etc.
