We have applied to the Woolwich, and I do have about £3k worth of debts, but no CCJs. I assume they were OK with us as applicants as they sent the surveyor in and we are now waiting for the mortgage offer.3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000

Just an update, Our survey was completed yesterday and was at the level we expected £88.000. The Woolwich choose the firm and have debited the costfrom my bank account.
How long do you reckon it should be before an offer is produced.
If any one else if currently having dealings with the woolwich I would love to hear from you,
Thanks in advance.0 -
We had our survey done on 20 October and are still waiting for the offer letter. They have told us that it is in a queue waiting to be sent out... Nearly everything else (searches, additional electrical and timber reports suggested by surveyor) has been done so I hope they get a move on. They don't seem the most efficient - my OH has asked them three times for a receipt for application and survey fees so he can claim them back from his employer, but no joy :rolleyes:3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000

Please dont say that. Ive got 3 weeks to exchange and the survey was only done on Friday:eek:
Can I ask, what survey did you go with? Im now regretting our choice, we had the valuation only as the valuation done on my house (by a different company) was quite detailed. No joy for us, we got about 6 lines in total!0 -
We got the homebuyers survey. The surveyor turned around the report pretty quickly and got the valuation bit sent off the Woolwich within a couple of days, but it then seems to have got a bit bogged down in their system. There seem to be a lot of differing opinions on these boards about the value of surveys, but my partner and I are FTBs and not really experienced in what to look for. Also our employers are paying our removal costs, so we went for the homebuyers - can't say that it was really worth £595 (though I suppose it would have been if it had turned up anything major) but then the valuation isn't worth £300 either.3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000

I went for the basic valuation at £265.00 as the house is only 12 years old. I have spoken with the Woolwich today as there helpline opens at 08.30 and is normally quite at this time. The have said that they have a 1 week backlog of mail. This might be why your survey has been done but isn't in the system.
The three of us will get through this, I will keep you updated on any changes.0 -
Hi, I also spoke to them this morning before 9am. They said the letter has been done but is still waiting for final checking. Should be a couple of days, or early next week... I also had a slight panic (understatement!)as I noticed that on one letter they sent us it said that the initial rate was the 6.84% SVR, when we had applied for the 10-year fixed rate of 4.98%. But apparently it is correct on the offer letter. I can't wait for all this to be over - the joy of a 10-year fix in my view is not having to deal with the lender too often...3-6 Month Emergency Fund #14: £9000 / £10,0000

Hi everyone,
I'm glad I came across this thread. Myself and my better half applied for a Woolwich mortgage yesterday. It's the lifetime tracker mentioned as mentioned by UK007BullDog which seems like a good rate. We've also gone for the homebuyers report, like Rosie75 as it seems worthwhile for the added peace of mind.
My concern is the length of time that these applications seem to be taking. Our solicitor has suggested that there may be a chance of completion by Christmas as there is such a short chain but reading this has put a few doubts in my mind.
But best of luck to everyone on this thread and please keep us informed as to how things are progressing.Mortgage free wanabee0 -
Not problem shabby, If you need to contact the Woolwich do so before 9am as the lines get really busy. I think it is an idea to call them at least weekly. Also stay on top of your solicitor, I have been writing to mine weekly as getting him on the phone is a nightmare and then all your points are in writing. Best of luck.0

Looks like things are moving with the Woolwich again.
Keep at em, I hate mithering but it works in the end.
Now Ive got to get on to the building control over an issue with my house:eek: Its non stop isnt it.
Good luck everyone.0
