have you set it up at all, or just got it out of the box.
usually by pinging the ip address of the router.
ping xx.xx.xx.xxEver get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
All set up. MTU changed to "manual 1400" but AOL reaches step 5 of connection and either shuts down or retry to establish connection again and again unsuccessfully.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

Try switching off both the router and the pc. Then reboot the router, wait for the lights to settle, and the reboot the pc. You may find that you have to do this periodically anyway.I'm a retired employment solicitor. Wooooooooooooooof, got it finally to work and it is really bizarre to be able to connect directly to AOL when I open FireFox without the need to start AOL itself. I have even uninstalled AOL (the most intrusive piece of software ever) and my FireFox is stil always connected. Really fantastic. Two more questions please. Firstly, I can't seem to get it to work with internet explorer for some mysterious reason (can't get to the utility page when type "http://192.168.1.1" URL in). Secondly does anyone no how I can connect my laptop wirelessly without it having a PCMCIA slot so can't use the laptop card that came with the router.Do I want it? ......Do I need it? ......What would happen if I don't buy it??????0

Check ie/tools/internet options/connections/lan settings
Are you saying you have a laptop with no in-built wireless, and no pcmcia slot. If so, do you have a usb slot? If yes, you can get a wireless usb adapter instead..

etc..
if you are not using wireless currently, disable it on the router, otherwise your neighbours might connect to your network.
when you do go wireless, enable wpa encryption, and disable ssid broadcasting for the same reasons.Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time? :rolleyes:0 -
