The Spam button is used for reporting a post that is obviously SPAM, one click of the button, and it sends a message to MSE reporting the Spam post, which in turn can be reviewed and deleted.

Links I can only guess can not be posted by new posters whether or not they use a clickable title to disguise it.

Well, no it doesn't, that's the problem. It appears as though, if it's clicked a certain number of times (which we couldn't possibly know), then it will be flagged up in some way. And someone then may (or may not) do some thing.

Keep on clicking the report.gif link.

I have recently been through someone's 6 posts and reported all for being spam using the button. All 6 posts had the same text, but none of the posts get reported until more users decide that the posts are spam.

Could the spam button work differently for users with a few posts. How about if any of the first 3 or 5 posts are marked as spam then they get referred straight away?

The issue with that would be that it would be far too easy for Trolls to mark anyones post as spam, it needs a few markers, but rest assured ALL reported spam or abusive posts are checked, maybe not as instantly as people would like, but as this site is a vast site to handle, it takes a little time for the board guides to sift through it all. But all in all they do a pretty good job of keeping on top of the situation ;)

No the spam button isn't obvious that's why I asked I got a answer early today regarding this from mse webmaster

Also some poster have report that the spam button and another one arent showing up

I reported several obvious spam posts and they remained on the forum for many many hours, I can only assume not many people actually clicked on spam button despite it being a popular forum

Also if a spammer posts in between a new thread and then another post follows you cant click the spam button on the spammers post only, only 1st and last post, none in between

Good thought, I hadnt thought of that one ;), Assuming the new thread is created by spam, its safe to delete, but yes within existing threads would mean reporting it the old fashioned way.

I've tried to view that thread too, and I get...

    vBulletin Message

MARTINS DOLL, you do not have permission to access this page. This could be due to one of several reasons:
    1. Your user account may not have sufficient privileges to access this page. Are you trying to edit someone else's post, access administrative features or some other privileged system?
    2. If you are trying to post, the administrator may have disabled your account, or it may be awaiting activation.

    I'm  too!
