Brand New Sony Vaio (Faulty?)

    I have a Vaio too and I believe there is an update for the WLAN via the Sony updates.
    If no success there then go to the forums via Sony updates and they are very helpful.

    From memory it's the NR21M.

    I'm thinking maybe I should perform a system restore (if it lets me) and not do the windows update?

    All I want to do is set it up so when my Dad logs on he can just access the internet by just clicking explorer (as I have always done).

    Have now installed some Vaio updates, didn't mention WLAn on any of them but I now have 3 icons at the top of my desktop with little squares above them.

    WLAN
    LAN
    Modem

    Clicked WLAN and hey presto the light is now on !!

    Got my Dad's laptop at home tonight, wouldn't let me connect to my secure network ebven after I put the password in but I am connected to an unsecured netwrok at another house on our estate!

    Do these icons ring a bell with anybody?
