Clothes sizes

I've been offered a jacket, choice of sizes - one at 16 and the other at 20/22

Yeah, right - like I know sizes. INCHES I know :)

So can anybody point me at what the various sizes are in real money please?

    Hi Squeaky,
That's quite confusing because I presume we are converting from women's sizes to mens (in inches?) Looked in my conversion guide and roughly ( and I could be quite wrong, but I am sure some other helpful person will put me right) this is what I have come up with.

A man's suit (British) size 40 is a European 50, and I think but this is where I could be totally wrong a woman's size 16.
    A man's suit (British) size 44 is a European 54 and therefore I think it's a British size 20 (womens)

Depends on the make - I'm sure the sizes are getting smaller - that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

8/10 - small, slim, petite, slender - Kate Moss/Naomi Campbell- my friend Julia

12/14 - slim but a bit curvier! - Her off GMTV! - Her off the Office -

16/18 - even curvier - bigger all over - obviously no one on telly this size!!!!!

20/22 are classed as plus sizes - the lovely Fern Brittain

24/26 - the beautiful Dawn French

28 - Michelle Mc Manus before the weight loss

obviously the larger the size the less examples from tv I can give. I wonder why? sadly not the same for men

Well spotted as she was out early on - and her annoying voice stopped me looking at her. and it was channel 4.

I never watched it, but I saw in an article she had the same bra size as me before I changed size

Yeah Squeaks, as Allexie says is there something you want to share with us or will tomorrow's thread be about finding a bag and shoes to match?

Not always!!! I'm a size 30" but a rather large cup size so have to buy size 16 tops to make sure that they do up. Mind you, I don't suppose that Squeaky will have to worry about the finer points of back vs cup size when choosing a jacket :-)

From looking at your picture Squeaks, id say the size 16 would probably fit a slender chap like yourself.... or if you want it baggier the 20/22 would do

Depends on how cheap the jacket is... most cheap clothes run rather small so you may need to size up.
