Broadband Equipment

Hi all,

A friend of mine who had broadband has recently switched to cable broadband and offered me his broadband modem.

I currently use dial-up.

I was wondering, after getting BT to upgrade my telephone line to recieve ADSL, would i be able to use this equipment to sign up to one of the cheaper broadband 'no modem' offers rather than the standard offers which includes 'free' modem but tends to be more expensive monthly?.

This would be my first foray into the broadband 'bandwagon' and hope this option of a free modem may keep my costs down, as often this no modem offers tend to be more flexible and not tied into a 12 month contract.

Many thanks for any advice.

Manik
